YOGYAKARTA – The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held the peak of its 61st Anniversary celebration through a thanksgiving event on Thursday (8/1) at the Psychology Courtyard, which was also broadcast live via YouTube. This event marked the closing of a series of activities that had taken place from November 7 to January 7.
Carrying the theme “Psychology Synergizing Towards a Resilient and Prosperous Nation,” the event served as a moment to reflect on the faculty’s long journey as well as to celebrate togetherness among the entire academic community. It was attended by faculty leaders, active and retired lecturers, educational staff, and representatives of alumni and students.
The Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UGM, Rahmat Hidayat, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., in his remarks emphasized the importance of cross-generational and cross-sector collaboration in addressing challenges, strengthening synergy among elements within the faculty, and highlighted the event as a ‘reunion’ platform to foster connections across generations within the faculty.
The program also featured reflection sessions from a lecturer representative, Indrayanti, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog, and an educational staff representative, Yuni Astuti. The event was further enlivened by cultural performances, including an artistic presentation by Faculty of Psychology UGM lecturer Haidar Buldan Thontowi, S.Psi., M.A., Ph.D., a gamelan performance by the Nglarasati ensemble, and a traditional dance performance of Beksan Golek Ayun-ayun by Gusti Prabu Kusumo, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to preserving cultural values.
As a tangible expression of the spirit of mutual cooperation, the Dharma Wanita Persatuan of the Faculty of Psychology UGM also awarded scholarships to the children of educational and outsourced staff. This initiative reflects the faculty’s ongoing commitment to supporting the well-being of its internal community.
Through the celebration of its 61st Anniversary, the Faculty of Psychology UGM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing knowledge, expanding collaboration, and producing graduates who are not only academically excellent but also socially aware and possess integrity in contributing to Indonesian society.
