Founded on January 8, 1965, the Faculty of Psychology at Gadjah Mada University is recognized as one of the leading psychology programs in Indonesia. As a higher education institution, the Faculty of Psychology has been responsive to demands to improve its quality. As the world becomes more global, the faculty welcomes the challenges of globalization by aligning vision, mission and strategy with the demands of the global market.

The Faculty positions itself as taking responsibility for producing high-quality professionals in the field of psychology. This faculty offers a Psychology Study Program which aims to produce scientists in the field of psychology as well as practicing professionals, decision makers, public figures and managers in the related fields of psychology.

Through curricular and extracurricular activities, the Psychology Study Program is also designed to produce graduates with creative and analytical competencies as well as a caring disposition, with an emphasis on lifelong educational awareness and professional growth. Graduates from the Faculty of Psychology are also expected to have strong views in incorporating local wisdom into their professional lives. By expanding the network and benchmarking initiatives at the local, national and international levels, the faculty has fulfilled this responsibility. The Faculty is currently recognized as one of the top choices for higher education.

Vision

To become a pioneering national faculty of psychology of world-class standing that excels and innovates in advancing psychology as a hub science for the benefit of national progress and humanity, inspired by the cultural values of the nation based on Pancasila.

Mision

  • To provide higher education that produces graduates who are competent, highly accomplished, and of noble character.
  • To conduct research and scientific studies to advance psychological science, as well as tools, procedures, and applied psychological methods that benefit the nation and humanity, while strengthening the position of psychology as a hub science.
  • To carry out community service for society, the nation, and humanity by optimally applying psychological knowledge and the psychology profession in order to foster harmony, social welfare, and national resilience.
  • To establish cooperation and strategic alliances domestically and internationally with universities, research institutions, scientific organizations, professional associations, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations that play important roles in carrying out missions in education, research, and community service for the benefit of the nation and humanity.
  • To strengthen the capacity of the Faculty of Psychology to enable continuous improvement in carrying out its missions in education, research, and community service for the benefit of the nation and humanity.
  • To implement innovative, effective, accountable, and transparent faculty governance.

Objectives

  • High-quality psychology higher education aimed at producing graduates who are competent, outstanding, and of noble character.
  • Research and scientific studies that generate scholarly publications, learning materials, policy recommendations, as well as tools, procedures, and applied psychological science for the benefit of society, the nation, and humanity.
  • Service through psychological science and the psychology profession that promotes sustainable community independence and welfare, while becoming a leading model for the psychology community in applying science and professional practice.
  • Cooperative networks and strategic alliances with partners at national and international levels to mainstream the role and position of psychology in society and national life.
  • A continuously developing organization to realize the missions and vision of the Faculty and Universitas Gadjah Mada.
  • The realization of faculty governance that is welfare-oriented, participatory, and just, in order to support the effective utilization of resources.
