The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada, together with the Psychology Student Parents Association (POTMAPSI), held a POTMAPSI Meeting and Academic Transcript (KHS) Consultation for the 2025 cohort students online on Friday (24/4). The meeting served as both a networking space and a discussion forum for the faculty and parents to review students’ academic progress after completing their first semester.
The Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UGM, Rahmat Hidayat, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., reminded participants that a student’s university journey should not be measured solely by GPA achievements.
“Academic grades are no longer the only thing our children need to achieve. They also need to grow, develop social skills, teamwork abilities, leadership, and personal maturity,” he said.
According to Rahmat, the university period is an important phase for students to grow into independent individuals who can face challenges and are ready to contribute to society after graduation.
The Head of POTMAPSI, Ristanto, S.I.Kom., M.IP., stated that parental involvement is still needed, not only in monitoring academic progress but also in supporting student activities that broaden learning experiences beyond the classroom.
“This support does not make students dependent on their parents, but rather serves as a way for parents to facilitate positive activities that support the development of their children’s interests, talents, and abilities,” he explained.
In addition to discussing first-semester academic results, the meeting also included academic program information presented by Dr. Ridwan Saptoto, S.Psi., M.A., Psikolog, Head of the Undergraduate Psychology Study Program. This was followed by a presentation on the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) by Fuad Hamsyah, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of IUP Management. During the Q&A session with parents, Ramadhan Dwi Marvianto, S.Psi., M.A., Coordinator of Learning and Student Affairs, explained student activities and strengthened communication between the faculty and families. Before entering the academic advisor (DPA) consultation session, Dr. Wenty Marina Minza, M.A., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, introduced all academic advisors for the 2025 cohort to the parents.
Through this forum, the Faculty of Psychology UGM and POTMAPSI strengthened collaboration between the university and parents as part of shared support for students throughout their academic journey.
