Family is a foundation and a place where human start to learn. On Tuseday, January 14, 2020, Central for Public Mental Health (CPMH) was conducting an event with strong family as a topic. The speakers for this events are Dr. Sumaryono, M. Si. from Faculty of Psyschology at Gadjah Mada University and Prof. Sylvia Asay from University of Nebraska at Kearney, USA.
The event was take place at Auditorium G-100 and attended by students and staffs from Gadjah Mada University.It was held from 13.00 to 15.00 WIB, started with the first session which delivered by Dr. Sumaryono, M.Si. The issue was about family, which captured from organizational point of view. From the point of view, it is important for family to have a system, value and commitment among family members in terms of become strong family.
On the second session, the topic was about domestic violence and the importance of knowledge that family member should have about the variety of actions that can be categorized as violence, and it was delivered by Prof. Sylvia Asay. If any families encounter any of the conditions that categorized as violence, it would better if they know how to handle and whom to ask for a help. Hence, it is important for family to have a strong foundation of values and positive relationship in order to build strong family.
Based on the information from this event, it is expected that people will have more knowledge and awareness about the importance of strong family in order to become healthier and productive individual.
