Evinda Nur Rohmah, students of the Faculty of Psychology UGM, managed to achieve the best 4 in the event of the Special Regional Language Ambassadors election Yogyakarta 2019. Evinda and 29 Other finalists were crowned the DIY language ambassador on 19 July 2019 then.
The selection of DIY language Ambassadors is an annual event held by the Ministry of Language of the Kemendikbud in order to campaign the proper use of Bahasa Indonesia, while preserving the preservation of ethnic languages. This is in line with the slogan that is carried by the language Ambassadors “First Indonesian language, Lestarikan regional language, and master foreign language”.
Further, head of Language Hall, Drs. Pardi, M. Hum. In his speech said that this activity is not solely about physical assessment, but a comprehensive assessment of the ability to communicate; Indonesian, regional and foreign languages, as well as mental abilities in the face of superior participants.
In this event, there are several series of rigorous selection, including the selection of administrative files, public auditions, and UKBI to determine the top 30, supplies, talent performances, the main judging, and the last night of the final and the Coronation night of the language ambassador. Participants who participated in this event also came from various majors and college diverse backgrounds.
In this event, Evinda’s work program titled “Street Literacy” with two main programs, the walking Library, and the Teaching Literacy Agency. In the stage of talent performance, Evinda performed the dance of Oglek originating from Kulon Progo. Step by step has been passed until finish Evinda succeeded to get the best predicate 4th in this event. Although not yet chosen to represent DIY in the 2019 national language ambassador, Evinda claimed to be very grateful and was fortunate to be able to participate in the ambassador election activities to the end of the series.
