At the national level Tournament “University of Indonesia Tennis Cup 2019”, Michael Robert Alvianto Tanoso as the only student representing UGM in the match again managed to bring home a pretty proud achievement. This event was held by the University of Indonesia and played in Cilandak, South Jakarta. Michael won the champions on two numbers, the Runner-up on the men’s singles and semifinalists on the men’s doubles number.
The University of Indonesia Tennis Cup 2019 is an open-level, inter-student Tennis competition held openly for all students in Indonesia. This year, the match was scheduled to last three days on 6-8 September 2019 and was held at the Kesatrian Marine Hartono Tennis court, Cilandak. The event was attended by various universities from various regions in Indonesia. In this game, there are 4 numbers combined, namely men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
The student Activities Unit of field tennis UGM at this time only sent a single athlete, namely Michael Robert Alvianto Tanoso, Faculty of Psychology students Force 2018. Michael participated in two numbers, namely the men’s singles, and men’s doubles where Michael was paired with one of the students of UI named Yarynara Suharyadi.
On the men’s singles number, Michael is faced with strong enough players from the first half. In the first round, Michael managed to overthrow Alif Maulana from Brawijaya University with a score of 8-0. Subsequently, Michael met Adyputro Wibowo from the State University of Yogyakarta. Although the match lasted fairly strictly however Michael managed to win with a score of 8-3. In the quarter-finals, Michael met with a mainstay of BINUS University named Kenneth Legacy and won with a score of 8-3. Haekal Ramadhan, one of the best players UIN Jakarta waits for Michael in the semifinals. The match lasted fiercely, but Michael succeeded in winning the score of 8-4. In the final round, Michael was awaited by the flagship player of the University of Pamulang, Dimas Kolopita. But in the final Michael lost the competition and received a whopping with a score of 3-6, 2-6.
On the men’s doubles number, Michael and Yary managed to subvert the UNY and BINUS University couples with quite a score. Difficulties were gained when in the semifinals they met with Dimas Kolopita and Haekal Ramadhan. The match lasted quite an exclamation, but Michael and Yary had to settle as a semifinalist with a score of 3-8.
“I am quite proud of the achievements I get for UGM at this time of the game, but there is still a lot to be addressed from my ability. Hopefully, this result can I make lessons to be more developed and accomplished in the upcoming matches, “said Michael.
