Saturday (14/8) the Faculty of Psychology UGM together with the Association of Students’ Parents of the Faculty of Psychology (POTMAPSI) held a Parental Meeting of Freshmen 2021. This meeting is a routine agenda held for freshmen’s parents to give them various information related to the study, curriculum, facilities, and also student activities.
A total of 200 parents of new students from the Undergraduate Study Program and the International Undergraduate Program participated in this meeting. The representative of the new student’s parents, Salaman, said “As parents, we feel proud that our children can be accepted in the Faculty of Psychology UGM. In essence, we have entrusted the formation of the best character for our children to the Universitas Gadjah Mada.”
The event continued with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UGM. At the beginning of his speech, Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A. introduced the lecturers to parents. The hope is that not only students know the lecturers but also parents.
In addition to the introduction of the lecturers, Faturochman also informed briefly about the new curriculum; Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), one of which was the internship program. “We have prepared programs for children who will enter the MBKM program on and off-campus,” he explained.
Not only that, Faturcohman also explained the opportunities that are wide open for students to actively participate in various activities and competitions abroad, “The student exchange is normal. Many students have participated in lectures, seminars, and competitions abroad. Please encourage your children to be active and don’t forget that this activity is also encouraged by POTMAPSI”.
The explanation was added by the Head of the Psychology Undergraduate Program, Galang Lufityanto, S.Psi., M.Psi., Ph.D. and Head of the International Undergraduate Program, Wenty Marina Minza, S.Psi., M.A., Ph.D. They provide exposure related to curriculum and lecture activities. It is hoped that with this meeting parents can actively support learning and lecture activities.
