CPMH Conducts Workshops for Puskesmas Psychologists

(30/08) CPMH (Center of Public Mental Health) Faculty of Psychology conducts a Workshop on Psychologist at Auditorium G-100. Also present in the event, Psychologists from some puskesmas in the region of special region Yogyakarta. Diana Setiyawati, M. HSc. Psy., Ph.D., as the chairman of CPMH as the speaker of the event.

The Workshop highlighted more about the gait of psychologists working in Puskesmas. Health centers are a place of healthcare, in fact, it requires psychologists in it to shade the mental problems that occur among the community.

Diana also explained that the needs of patients related to Psychological problems are multidimensional, have co-morbidity with other conditions, which means mixed with the symptoms of illness or other disorders. From this problem, it is not uncommon that patients may not predict when they need expert help or psychotherapy.

Although public understanding of Puskesmas relies on the knowledge where the Puskesmas is the place for medical treatment, it also affects the ignorance of the community about the role of the psychologist who should also be in the Puskesmas. However, from here the psychologist will be faced with a new problem where the psychologist will face the challenge of professional status against him. Because the profession of psychologists is still considered in the eye especially when paired with the role of doctors when healing mental health. This is precisely understood by psychologists as their provision to plunge into the service of the community.
