Center for Lifespan and Development (CLSD) Raise Literacy Issues on Basic Education Level

Categorized literacy into one of the three major components of the education world. Along with the realization of the importance of literacy especially for generations of the nation’s successors, elements of community builders have been proactive in propagating the matter, but the campus is an institution of higher education that has a major role in improving literacy programs.

The Faculty of Psychology of UGM initiated by the Center for Lifespan and Development (CLSD), implemented the Center for Lifespan and Development (CLSD) community service program. The event took place on Friday, August 23rd, 2019, located in the room A-203 Faculty of Psychology UGM from early morning to the afternoon. The theme taken in this program is “Strengthening elementary school children’s literacy through school ecosystem creation”. The seminar participants were elementary school teachers in the Sleman area of Yogyakarta.

While this activity is dominated by material delivered in two materials with different speakers. In the first material, T. Novi Poespita Candra, M.Si., Ph.D., psychologist was given to convey the subject of “literacy through positive ecosystem creation” while the material in the second session discussed “psychological literacy and Stimulation” presented by Dian Mufitasari., S. Psi, M. Psi., psychologist. After that, the last session was filled with fun literacy practices from the participants.
