22/01 Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Pulau Pinang, Malaysia visit Faculty of Psychology Gadjah Mada University. Event was proposed by Unit Kerjaya & Kaunseling UiTM, a counseling unit which run by students in order to give peer counseling to others. The objective of the visit was to gain more knowledge about counseling.
The event was start at 09.00, on A-203 Faculty of Psychology building, begin with greeting and brief explanation about Faculty of Psychology at Gadjah Mada University which delivered by Fuad Hamsyah, S.Psi., M.Sc. as representative from the faculty, followed by greetings from UiTM representative. Yopina Galih Pertiwi, S.Psi., M.A., Ph.D. from Cente for Indigenous and Cultural Psychology (CICP) and Arum Febriani, S.Psi., M.A., Dr. from Center for Lifespan and Development (CLSD) was also attending the event.
Next session was explanation from Edilburga Wulan Saptandari, M.Psi about Unit Konsultasi Psikologi (UKP) followed with discussion and Q & A session. At the end of the event, students and representative from UiTM have the opportunity to visit Faculty Library, Mind, Brain, Behaviour Laboratory and UKP as well, in order to give them the idea about how they usually operate.
Tuesday, 21/01 Faculty of Psychology was held a Public Lecture which attended by graduate and undergraduate student from Gadjah Mada University and other Universities in Yogyakarta. The event take place at Atrium G-100 Faculty of Psychology, on 09.00-11.00 WIB.
The topic for the lecture is about inclusive education. Prof. David Evans, Ph. D from Faculty of Art and Social Sciences at University of Sydney, Australia had the opportunity to become a speaker for this event.
Prof. David Evans, Ph. D give the perspective about inclusive education in Australia, also depiction about how to make a good learning system at class that indiscriminate the students regardless of their differences. He convey that sometimes, usual matter such as unfamiliar languages or terms teacher used when delivering the subject at class can give certain pressure or “disabled” feeling to the students. So that important to build positive environment for education. The lecture was closed with discussion and question and answer session.
Central Public For Mental Health (CPMH) was organized a workshop called Building Strong Families. The event was held for two days, from January 15 to 16, 2020 at Auditorium G-100. It was attended by 99 audiences who has psychology as educational backgroud, rerearcher, lecturer and housewife.
Prof. Sylvia Asay from University of Nebraska at Kearney, Amerika Serikat was the speaker for this event. It was started at 09.00 WIB, begin with speech from Diana Setiyawati, M.HSc.Psy., Ph.D. as a chief of CPMH, continued by Prof. Sylvia Asay. Qualities of Strong Families, Family Life and Education, Healthy Love Relationship and Communication and Conflict Resolution was chosen as topics for this workshop. At the end of each topics, the audience also have the opportunity to ask and discuss about the topics with the speaker.
On the second day, Prof. Sylvia Asay was presenting topics about Family Services, Pre-Marital Preparation, Balancing Work and Family, Family Stress and Crisis, Family Violence and Family Policy. The speaker also give the audiences the opportunity to ask and discuss further about the topics. Furthermore, Prof. Sylvia Asay was giving the perspective about the differences of families and how they resolve their conflict regardless of the cultural differences. Different families in different countries perceived the problems and solve it with different ways, however the key to encounter every family problems, stress and crisis are the same, which is family strength.
Pre-test and post-test also given to the participants in order to have the perspective of how effective the topics delivered to them. At the end of the event, Diana Setiyawati, M.HSc.Psy., Ph.D. was giving closing statement continued with testimonial about the event from several audiences.
Family is a foundation and a place where human start to learn. On Tuseday, January 14, 2020, Central for Public Mental Health (CPMH) was conducting an event with strong family as a topic. The speakers for this events are Dr. Sumaryono, M. Si. from Faculty of Psyschology at Gadjah Mada University and Prof. Sylvia Asay from University of Nebraska at Kearney, USA.
The event was take place at Auditorium G-100 and attended by students and staffs from Gadjah Mada University.It was held from 13.00 to 15.00 WIB, started with the first session which delivered by Dr. Sumaryono, M.Si. The issue was about family, which captured from organizational point of view. From the point of view, it is important for family to have a system, value and commitment among family members in terms of become strong family.
On the second session, the topic was about domestic violence and the importance of knowledge that family member should have about the variety of actions that can be categorized as violence, and it was delivered by Prof. Sylvia Asay. If any families encounter any of the conditions that categorized as violence, it would better if they know how to handle and whom to ask for a help. Hence, it is important for family to have a strong foundation of values and positive relationship in order to build strong family.
Based on the information from this event, it is expected that people will have more knowledge and awareness about the importance of strong family in order to become healthier and productive individual.
(29/11) The Magister of Psychology organized a workshop with the theme “Bayesian for Psychology”. The purpose of this event is to the introduction of Bayesian Statistics for research in the field of psychology. This Workshop was attended mostly by students of the Magister of Psychology but did not close the possibility of students from other programs also participated in this event. About more than 30 people attended the event. This event took at A 203 Faculty of Psychology UGM from 1 p.m to 3 pm. Danang Teguh Qoyyimi S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. which is also a lecturer of MIPA UGM is trusted to be a speaker in this workshop. Bayesian itself is a method of knowing the probability to establish a decision tailored to the concept of Psychology.
Answering today’s challenges, various institutions need a deeper review to get a picture of the combined aspects of the developed technology as challenges of the day itself. Therefore, various components of the technology are learned to fulfill the demands of work or learning needs. One of the components in question is big data. Due to this, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Persero in collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology UGM held a workshop titled “Big Data Analysis for Human Capital” Workshop.
This Workshop lasts from Thursday, November 21st to Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 at the Kasultanan Ballroom Hotel Royal Ambarukmo Plaza. Participants who participated in the event were PLN employees who also at the same time studied at the Magister of Psychology Professions Faculty of Psychology UGM.
The event was first opened by Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M. A as the representative of the Faculty of Psychology UGM which is also the dean of the Faculty of Psychology at Gadjah Mada University. Furthermore, the opening was continued by PT PLN (Persero), namely Muhamad Ali who served as director of Human Capital Management of PT PLN Persero. The event continued with further explanation of big data and an overview of the HR information System from the Executive Vice President Talent Development PT PLN Persero. Participants are also welcome to discuss with management guided by Dr. Sumaryono, M.Si. The next session on the same day is filled with the exposure of the director of DSSDI UGM, Widyawan, ST., M.Sc., Ph.D., and also Zakiya Aryana (Alumni S2 Smart City & Urban Analytic) which presents examples of big data analysis-based research.
On the second day, participants got the material about extracting and visualizing data from Yunita Sari, S. Kom., M.SC., Ph.D which is a lecturer in the Faculty of MIPA UGM. The participants were then asked to complete a practical task in resolving the problems they faced using the big data analysis technique. During the day Prof. Andrej as a representative from the University of Groningen also presents the material about Big data in Social Research.
The third day was closed with the preparation of the research theme of each student, which is expected from this then it will appear a draft research output as part of the participant’s obligation to complete their final assignment in the Master’s program.
Faculty of Psychology Universitas Gadjah Mada graduated 39 scholars at the graduation period I academic year 2019/ 2020. Number of male graduates 3 people and women as much as 36 people. The release of the graduates held at Auditorium G-100, Gadjah Mada University after the ceremonial procession of graduation at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM (20/11/19).
The number of graduates is predicate as many as 26 people. They are Claudia Laura Stephany, Kadek Yessy Heriana, Erika Inayati Dewi, Rofanny Haznatu Parwa Karunia, Belladiena Azmi, Aprelia Perwita Sari, Sabrina Alvie Amelia, Dinda Nabila Nauraliefia, Khoiriyyatun Nisa ‘, Kresentia Galih Sukma Princess Alandia, Debrinna Tryanan Asmaradhani, Nava Noorita, Atikah Nurul Luthfiah, Gesta Aulia Nisa, Musthafa Anwarul Lathif, Raraseptinia Nur Garinda, Ni Putu Melinda Prabamitha Sari, Ajeng the Arlita, Nabila Insani, Firyal Nur Karimah, Athiyyah Khairunnisa, Deshinta Savira Ilmawati, Gemintang Sukma Alnisa D, Gisela Ratih Prakasita Sutjijana, Nabilah Izmi Fadhillah Ihsan and Widya Putri Yulia.
At the graduation, this time Claudia Laura Stephany and Kadek Yessy Heriana appeared as the highest cumulative achievement index of 3.76. Gisela Ratih Prakasita Sutjijana as a graduate with the fastest study time of 3 years 10 months 30 days. Firyal Nur Karimah as the youngest of 20 years and 5 months 12 days.
The Faculty of Psychology organized a group counseling training in prisons for the psychological intervention of the female penitentiary of the IIB class in Yogyakarta. The event was held twice on 8 November and 15 November 2019. The event was attended by the Counsellor in Correctional Institution. The purpose of this event is to facilitate the counselors when giving psychological intervention in LP.
On the first day, the event began with a pre test for the counselors present. Then before the group counseling session began. First a group counseling is done to provide knowledge before the counseling practice. This group counseling was given by Prof. Dr. Tina Afiatin, M.Si, psikolog. After completion of the supply it continues to group counseling practice consisting of three sessions.
As for the next day, the agenda is more focused on peer counceling where the peer counceling consists of four sessions. Participants were divided into three groups and each group consisted of 8 to 10 people, each group led by the event’s assistant from the Faculty of Psychology. Then the participants were directed to do a peer counceling. Before the closure of the event closed with post test.
Annual Informatic Competition (Anforcom) 2019 is a national mobile apps competition held by the Indonesian Informatics Student Association of Diponegoro University. The mobile apps competition that themed “Be a Brilliant Generation Through Digital Tech Innovation” has five categories: Fintech (Financial Technology), Education, Health Issues, Social Issues, and Tourism. The Anforcom 2019 series was begun in the preliminary round on 8 August to 19 October 2019.
The team of UGM consisting of Eva Rahman (Faculty of Psychology), Yudit Adythia Putra and Muhammad Reyzaldy Indra Sukmana (Faculty of Engineering) followed the stage after stage of the race, which was begun from the preliminary round to the final round. The idea that was promoted by UGM team is Frei, an Artificial Intelligence based Smartphone diet application that is equipped with gamification to reduce and overcome social media opium in adolescents in a fun and interactive manner.
UGM team who qualified to the final, went to the University of Diponegoro Semarang to make a presentation. In the final round of Mobile Apps competition, UGM team got the first opportunity to present the results of design and prototype mobile apps. According to Eva “This race is very fun and fun, because we have to collaborate to create a new application that is practically able to solve problems in everyday life”.
In addition to competing, participants were also invited to join a seminar titled “The Smart Way to Develop Startup” which was filled by CEO and Founder Swimpro, Business Process Improvement from Kitabisa.com, Senior manager SBD Lintasarta, and Business Development Manager Indodax. At the end of the event was announced by UGM team with application Idea Frei won second place.
