The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada welcomed a visit from SMAS Trimurti Surabaya on Wednesday (13/5). A total of 132 participants, consisting of 125 eleventh-grade students and seven accompanying teachers, attended the event at Hall D of the Faculty of Psychology UGM as part of an introduction to the university environment.
The Coordinator of Learning and Student Affairs for the Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Psychology UGM, Ramadhan Dwi Marvianto, S.Psi., M.A., opened the session by emphasizing the importance of aligning students’ interests and talents when choosing a field of study.
He explained that students who feel mismatched with their chosen major are at risk of experiencing academic burnout, a condition characterized by physical and emotional exhaustion accompanied by low engagement in academic activities.

“What we are interested in is not always something we are capable of doing, and what we do is not always something we are interested in. If you have talent, you should also develop interest in it in order to achieve optimal results,” he stated.
Ramadhan encouraged the students to begin mapping their interests and talents as early as the eleventh grade so they can make informed decisions before entering higher education. According to him, visiting the Faculty of Psychology UGM can serve as an initial step toward gaining a deeper understanding of academic disciplines.
He also presented the academic and career pathways in psychology, ranging from the Undergraduate Program, Professional Psychology Education Program, Master’s Program, to Doctoral Program available at the Faculty of Psychology UGM. In addition, participants were introduced to the faculty’s research units and student activity organizations.

A representative of SMAS Trimurti Surabaya, Niken Yuniarti, M.Pd., expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome provided by the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to the team from the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, for welcoming us from Trimurti Senior High School,” she stated.
She hopes that this visit can serve as a valuable source of information for students in planning their future studies.
During the study program introduction session, participants received information about the two admission pathways for the Undergraduate Psychology Program at UGM, namely the Regular Program and the International Undergraduate Program (IUP). Through the IUP pathway, students have the opportunity to participate in double degree programs with international partner universities.

The following session was delivered by Sapte Rini, S.Ag., who introduced the profile and strengths of Universitas Gadjah Mada, along with various scholarship schemes available for prospective students. Meanwhile, the introduction to the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) was presented by Yemima Febriani, S.S.
To conclude the series of activities, the students were invited to tour the faculty environment to gain a closer look at the facilities and academic atmosphere at the Faculty of Psychology UGM.
