The Unit for the Development of Psychodiagnostic Instruments (UPAP) of the Faculty of Psychology successfully conducted a trial session for the new PAPS Test platform on Wednesday (15/4). This trial followed the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Acceleration of Psychology Service System Integration and Independent GMST held by the Faculty of Psychology UGM on Friday–Saturday, 10–11 April 2026.
This trial marks an initial step in the digitalisation of testing services, aiming to improve convenience and provide a more user-friendly experience for participants. With the introduction of this digital platform, the test process is expected to become more efficient, practical, and accessible.
In terms of implementation, the PAPS test used in this trial differs from the regular PAPS test. In the future, the regular PAPS test is planned to be conducted periodically, approximately once a month on Thursdays. Meanwhile, this trial was specifically designed as an early-stage system test, using PAPS Test because its format and implementation mechanism were considered more prepared for digital adaptation.
The trial involved 80 participants with a participation fee of IDR 10,000 per person. The implementation also involved the UGM Directorate of Information Technology (DTI) and Directorate of Finance (Ditkeu). The testing process began on 13 April 2026, covering payment systems, test registration, and the test execution day itself.
This trial is part of the payment gateway system trial that will serve as the foundation for the regular GMST system, scheduled to launch on May 12, 2026. The payment system has been integrated through a dedicated webpage and supports virtual account (VA) payments. During the trial, the system already operated using the latest version of the developing platform.
The request for IT administrative support was based on the consideration that the new PAPS platform trial remains in its early stage and therefore requires in-depth analysis and comprehensive solutions at every stage, ranging from payment and registration processes to test implementation. In addition, rapid responses were needed to address potential technical issues experienced by participants during the process. Therefore, the involvement of the DTI and Ditkeu teams was considered crucial in supporting the smooth execution and overall success of the new PAPS Test platform trial.
The results of the digitalisation showed varied responses from participants. Several participants expressed positive feedback regarding the system, while others still encountered technical issues during testing process.
“It’s quite comfortable. I’ve taken PAPs before, and the current interface is much better. It’s easier to work on the test now, and it feels smoother than before,” said one of the participants.
Although several challenges were still identified during implementation, the trial provided an initial picture of the platform’s performance under real-use conditions. Findings from this trial reflected variations in user experience, which will become important considerations for future system refinement and implementation.
