‘Miss Inspiring’ of Wardah Yogyakarta is a pageant to select the Local Brand Ambassador for Wardah Cosmetics. The theme for this year’s event was “Kartini Masa Kini (Modern Day Kartini)”. This event is a celebration of women, and for women to continue spreading a positive message and keep doing what they are doing in inspiring others. Kartini, a national Indonesian hero who fought for women’s education, also represents the true beauty ideal for Indonesian women with not only her physical beauty, but also with her charm, wits, and lovely personality. The search for Wardah’s 2018 Miss Inspiring was among college students, especially those who are actively trying to contribute to society and make an impact.
The preparations started on April 14-22 at Hotel Forriz Yogyakarta. Participants were given lessons and briefings by Yogyakarta’s most inspiring ladies, such as Analisa Widyaningrum (Spokeperson for Wardah Cosmetic), Tita Briliana (Dimas Diajeng Bantul Finalist), Anunk Aqeela (Fashion Designer), Tulus Anggawijaya (Public Speaker and Entertainer), and Dina Nilam Wulandari (Business Development Manager for PT. Paragon Technology & Innovation). The last step, the grand finale, was held on May 1, 2018 in Jogja City Mall. The judges were Dina Nilam Wulandari, Hanum Salsabiela Rais (Novelist), and Selmadena Aquilla (Dimas Diajeng Kota Yogyakarta 2015). Judges rated the participants on personality, public speaking skill, and of course, brains.
Out of 107 hopeful participants, 50 of them made it to the grand finale. Four women won titles. One of our students, Zahwa Islami, won the grand prize and was crowned as Miss Inspiring Wardah Yogyakarta 2018. Other winners were Wahyu Triana Sari (Grad Student, from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences in UGM), titled as Miss Persahabatan Wardah 2018, Putu Ananda Saskita Sanjiwani (Undergrad, from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences in UGM), titled as Miss Lingkungan Wardah 2018, and lastly, Intan Alifahrahmi (Undergrad, from MMTC) was also titled as Miss Favorit Wardah 2018.
Zahwa, one of our most outstanding students, has proved once again that she truly is a role model, from her being Mahasiswa Berprestasi Psikologi UGM 2018, her work in helping children with HIV/AIDS through her project, ADHAcinta, and now, with her being a (truly inspiring) Miss Inspiring Wardah 2018. Great work, Zahwa!
We can’t wait to hear more of delightful news like this from other students. Let’s aspire to inspire!
