UGM Psychology Won First Place in ILMPI National Essay Competition

Each year, Ikatan Lembaga Mahasiswa Psikologi Indonesia (ILMPI), which is the Indonesian Psychology Students League, routinely holds Musyawarah Kerja Nasional (National Work Forum), commonly known as Mukernas and Temu Ilmiah Nasional (National Scientific Summit), widely known as Temilnas, for psychology students from campuses all over Indonesia. This year, Jambi University was given the honor to host the 2018 ILMPI Temilnas and Mukernas.

In this year’s Temilnas, the committee divided it into three competition categories: video, poster, and essay. The selection phase was done since January 22, 2018, followed with the finals on March 8 – 10, 2018, in Jambi University. Out of the 34 essays submitted, 2 of them, which both got to the finals, were written by the delegates from our faculty. The theme this year was “Mental Health in Urban Cities”.

Team 1 consisted of 3 students: Rahma Ayuningtyas Fachrunisa (2015), Brenna Azhra Syahadati (2017), and Neng Wita Juwita Agustin (2017). Their essay was titled  “IC-VLOG: Kampanye Media Sosial sebagai Sarana Membangun Kepedulian terhadap Ketimpangan Sosial (IC-VLOG: Social Media Campaign as a Platform to Increase Care Towards Social Inequalities)”. Team 2 consisted of just one student, Muhammad Abdul Fikri (2014). His essay was titled “Kampung Dolanan Lansia: Pelopor Destinasi Wisata Lansia Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Di Desa Bangunkerto, Kabupaten Sleman (Fun Village for the Elderly: A Pioneer for a Local Wisdom-Based Tourism Destination for the Elderly in Bangunkerto, Sleman Regency)”. Based on the essay presentations from the participants that were scored by the judges, Muhammad Abdul Fikri won 1st Place in this branch. The second winner was from Indonesia Islamic University and Trunojoyo University.

This event was surely a positive way for students to actualize their potentials and build relationships with other psychology students from all over the country. Keep up the good work to all of the delegates, we hope other students as well can continue achieving great things.
