To the Beloved: Aiming to Get to Know Each Other, KRST Style

KRST, the acronym of our theater club, Keluarga Rapat Sebuah Teater is one of the many clubs students can join. It works in creating a platform for students interested in the art of theater. On Saturday, September 29, 2018, KRST held its annual showcase, Kepada yang Tercinta (To the Beloved) in the G-100 Auditorium. The theme for this year was Papan Permainan (Board Game). The showcase started at 7 p.m., and there were performances from the Music, Dance, and Theater Divisions. The showcase this year, same as other years, will introduce the freshmen to KRST. The showcase ran for 2 hours, ending at 9 p.m.

“The showcase is some sort of “Welcome Party” for the freshmen. Here, we give them a chance to participate in the showcase too, to perform in front of their seniors and fellow classmates. That’s why we call this ‘To the Beloved’ because we are performing to our ‘loved ones’. It’s open for all members of the faculty, and friends of friends who want to come and watch the performances,” said Faradesyta, one of the committee members.

This showcase is a yearly event, and this year’s showcase has been prepared 3 weeks prior. This year, 40 people, mainly from the freshmen year, participated in the showcase. Two groups from Year 2018 did separate performances, with each group having the 3 different divisions perform. Older members of the theater group also performed some dancing, and the event ended with a musical performance.

“We hope that the new members from the freshmen year can understand KRST more, and understand the dynamics in it. With this showcase, they’ve also got to know the members, and now, they’ve also felt what it’s like to perform. We hope that they will be comfortable in KRST. Our next agenda is an even bigger showcase in Taman Budaya Yogyakarta, so this showcase was a good way to strengthen our bond and build good relations with each other,” said Faradestya in closing.
