Ten UGM Psychology Students Presented Their Scientific Papers in the 2018 UIPSUR

The Universitas Indonesia’s International Psychology Symposium for Undergraduate Research (UIPSUR) held this year is a scientific conference for undergraduate students from all over the world. Students are given a platform to present their work through oral and/or paper presentations. This conference was organized by Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Psychology. The conference took place on Saturday, September 15, 2018, in the The Margo Hotel, Depok. It started with presentations from the Keynote Speakers, Prof. Cristina J. Montiel, M. A., Ph. D., from Ateneo de Manilla University, who did a study on Peace Psychology in South-east Asia, and also from our very own Dean, Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M. A., who researched Harmony in Indonesia. The 2018 UIPSUR chose “Promoting Co-existence and Peace in a Multicultural Society” as its theme.

Ten students from our faculty were also given the chance to speak and present their scientific papers through oral presentations. The oral presentation session was done in front of fellow students and also lecturers from Universitas Indonesia. The ten students were Eva Rahman (2016), Anita Rahmawati (2016), Nanda Rafidah (2016), Hasna Uzzakiyah (2015), Samudera Fadlilla Jamaludin (2015), Ni Made Pradnya Amadeandra (2015), Gloria Exelcise (2015), Eunike Adiprasasti (2014), Fahri Al Irsyad (2014), and Suryo Buwono (2013). “I am grateful that I still have a chance to participate in conferences in this last year of my undergraduate study. I’ve really learned a lot,” said Eunike Adiprasasti.

The ten students wrote ten individual papers. The titles presented by them were “The Concept of Happiness in Javanese Children”, “Self-disclosure on Social Media Line: Challenges in Forming a Supportive Communication Climate”, “Effect of Awareness Toward Partner on Individual Cheating Behavior, Social Relation and Cheating Culture: How Honest People Turns Bad”, “Cheating: Monetary of Reward and Its Relation to Social Interaction”, “The Influence of Exposure to Admired Outgroup Members Towards Implicit Prejudice in Intergroup Religions”, “Relation Between Self Efficacy and Peer Social Support Towards College Student’s Career Aspiration”, and “The Effect of Moral-Themed Story on Children Prosocial Intentions: An Experiment Study in Indonesia”.

“UIPSUR was very fun, I could exchange ideas and discuss my research. This symposium was a great experience,” said Samudera Jamaludin. Hasna Uzzakiyah added, “I hope that other students can also present their papers and research in international conferences, because now I realize that we do have a lot of great work.”
