Phylosophical states about education by Ki Hajar Dewantara, Ing Ngarso Sung Tulodo, Ing Madya Mangun Karso, and Tut Wuri Handayani are becoming the basic concept for Education in Indonesia, from the past until present time. This philosophy implying about freedom for children to express and develop themselves according to their potential.
According to the idea, Promovendus Club (PC) once again held biweekly colloquium (Kolokium Dua Minggu-an called KDM) on Friday, July 3, 2020 with Elga Adriana, S.Psi., M.Ed., Ph.D., as the speaker. Elga is also lecturer in Faculty of Psychology UGM who graduated from University of Sydney.
This KDM was attended by 130 participants from various background, such as student, lecturer, teacher, counselor, and play therapist. This event was done virtually, and raised a theme about “Research with Children: Art-informed Methods to Engage Children’s Voice.” The speaker who has been practicing in educational field shares the result of her research when completing doctoral studies and also share her experience as educational practitioners, especially primary education.
The inequity of power and relations between adults and children is one the research that conducted by the speaker who also has a background in Special and Inclusive Education Educational.
The speaker invited participants to conduct research and involving them, or encourage the children to become the main researcher, so the children is not becoming the subject of the research. In addition, she also delivering research ethics that involving children, how to become facilitator for children to get them involved and growing their potential in order to explore the knowledge, and practicing the idea about the issues of data collection methods using photos and pictures.
