On Monday (10/9), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), working together with the national electricity company, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) carried out a farewell ceremony for PLN employees who studied in UGM for their master’s degree in Room A.203 of UGM Psychology campus. In attendance were 4 people from PLN’s center and also the 22 PLN employees studying in UGM. Representatives from UGM Psychology were the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology as well as several lecturers and staff.
The 22 PLN employees studied in various faculties in UGM; 16 enrolled in the Faculty of Psychology, 5 in the Faculty of Economics and Business, and 1 person studied in the Faculty of Medicine.
The director of PLN’s Human Capital Management, Muhamad Ali, stated that PLN employees were still lacking in leadership, innovation, and customer service because they are too technical. Therefore, by enrolling employees in the graduate schools in UGM through this program (tugas belajar), it is expected to prepare PLN to become eve better.
In response to the statement, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A., warmly received the cooperation and hopes for the continuing friendship between the two, not only in formal settings but also in informal settings.
This program, the assignment to learn in graduate schools, (known as Tugas Belajar S2) for PLN employees was also well received by the employees themselves. They felt glad to get this opportunity to elevate themselves and better their qualities. Sofaz, an employee enrolling in our graduate school, expressed her gratitude to UGM, for this opportunity has made it possible for her to deepen her understanding of scientific psychology, and with that she can later on apply it correctly for her work in the company.
