Friday (11/9), Successful Learners Training – Psikologi Rumah Kita 2020, officially opened by the Dean of Faculty of Psychology UGM, Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A. This orientation event for new students was held online for the first time considering the COVID-19 pandemic.
Psikologi Rumah Kita (PRK) will be hold for two days, from 11 September to 12 September 2020. There are 237 new students from Psychology undergraduate program and 37 new International Undergraduate Program students who participated in this activity.
Prastha Sahitya, which means together in tune, was chosen to be the PRK 2020 slogan. According to Ahnaf Rafif Ariyanto, the PRK coordinator, the slogan Prastha Sahitya is in line with the objectives of the PRK activity, so new students can be together in unity, strengthen groups and establish communication, also have sensitivity and social awareness as the students class of 2020.
PRK complements the PPSMB Gadjah Mada University which has been organized previously. PRK specifically provides new students with insight about scientific field of psychology. Through this activity, new students are introduced to the Deans and Management of Faculty of Psychology UGM. Materials about Faculty such as history, values, vision, mission and curriculum, units within the faculty, faculty tours, various materials on psychology, and others also introduced.
In his speech Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A appealed to the new students to start from the end. UGM Psychology students must have a goal to graduate from a bachelor of psychology from the start, no one is allowed to not finishing this and left behind.
Furthermore, Faturochman also said that new students must be ready to enter broader academic field and non-academic competitions. “Students must be creative to be the best. Take part in PKM activities and various types of competitions, both in the field of psychology and outside.” said Faturochman.
