(7/11) The role of psychological science in technological field now becoming broader. It contribute in the tech industry or generally better known as start-up. The tech industry is a business sector that utilizes technology and information and produces digital products to digital services. According to this phenomenon, Pengen Ngobrol Episode 6 raised topic about Human Centered-Approach in Tech Industry.
The event is series activities to celebrate 56th Anniversary of Faculty of Psychology UGM. This sixth episode also attended by 60 participants, including prospective graduates for November 2020 period. Fuad Hamsyah, S.Psi., M.Sc., Secretary of Undergraduate Study Program Faculty of Psychology UGM, opened the event with a short speech.
On the first session, Nur Zidny Ilmanafia, alumni of Faculty of Psychology UGM class of 2014 had the opportunity to be the speaker on this occasion. Zidny, who is currently working in tech-industry field as UX Researcher at Jabar Digital Services said, “The design process is very human centric, so it will be an added value if researchers are able to understand from psychological point of view.” Psychology has great opportunity to contribute in this field, particularly in the process of designing digital products.
The second speaker, Mohammad Rieza Rakhman, a Consumer Engagement Associate Manager at Gojek who is also an alumni of Faculty of Psychology UGM shared his experience working in start-up. According to him, psychology also has a role marketing field, the field that he is currently working on. “In the past, consumer mapping was only based on income, but now it mapped based on psychographics, what the consumer’s needs and their behavior patterns” added Rieza.
This event is expected to provide new perspective for the participants about careers in tech-industry field.
