Online Discussion: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy For Psychosis

Thursday (17/12) Center for Public Mental Health (CPMH) Faculty of Psychology UGM collaborating withIndonesian Association of Clinical Psychologists and Association of Clinical Psychologists for West Java region held online discussion that raised a topic about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis.

Attended by 1000 participants in Zoom Meeting, the event begin at 3.30 PM with opening speech from Dr. Indria Laksmi Gamayanti, M.Sc., Psychologist, Head of Indonesian Association of Clinical Psychologists, followed with short speech from Dr. Hendy Ginting, The Head of Scientific Publications and also The Head of Association of Clinical Psychologists for West Java region. He also presenting brief information about Indonesian Journal of Clinical Psychology (IPK) for psychosis topics.

There were also two writers who contribute in IPK journal, which are Diah Miranti, S.Psi., and Grace Maretta A. Z., M.Psi., Psychologist. Both of them share their experiences in submitting the paper and the content of each research briefly.

After the presentation of IPK journal, the event continued with presentation about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in general and CBT for psychosis by the speaker, Dr. Marieke Pijnenborg from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. It was guided by the moderator Dr. Diana Setyawati, M.HSc., Psychologist, who is also the Head of CPMH.

Dr. Marieke said “With CBT we try to change how clients see themselves, the world and other people as well as how they perceieved it. We also focus on ‘here and now’ and how it connect with are their past experiences”.

Clients with psychosis will learn about other alternatives to their rationalization from CBT.

Furthermore, the second session was followed by sharing session with the second speaker, Jerrie Hadinoto, a psychotic disorder survivor.

At the end of the event, there was also a discussion session guided by the moderator.
