My Self, My Comfort Zone: Online Sharing Session by UKP

(17/07) New Normal or “new way” to live during COVID-19 outbreak requires everybody to be able to adapt to the current situation and stay productive. Meanwhile, the new situation, policy and rules may become one of the cause of distress.

According to this situation, Unit of Counseling Psychology (UKP) Faculty of Psychology UGM conduct an online sharing session with “reconciles with yourself in the new normal era” as the idea. The event called My Self, My Comfort Zone, and expected to be one of the forum to share for broader society. Re-parenting raised as the topic for the session. The aim of the it, was to educate and share to the participants that this approach can be used to maintaining their emotion in order to face unexpected situation, like situations nowadays.

Azri Augustin Suciati, M.Psi., Psikologi has the opportunity to become the speaker for this session. Azri is alumni from Professional Psychology Program Gadjah Mada University. She also a Psychologist in UKP since 2017.

During the session, Azri said that re-parenting is an effort to care for oneself by fulfilling various needs that were not obtained in childhood. She also delivered re-parenting issue in detail, such as the stages and how to prepare it. Participants also invited to write down their personal experiences as form of practice in order to upgrade their self-parenting skill.

In addition, there are also Q & A session that guided by the moderator, Acintya Ratna Pratiwi, S.Psi., M.A. who also a lecturer in Faculty of Psychology UGM.

This event is open for public and participants can register for free.

The session was held at 2.00 – 3.30 PM and attended by 125 participants from varied background and ages, ranged from teenager to 53 years old.
