Muslimah Beauty: An Inspiration for Muslimahs

Muslimah Beauty is the biggest program from the Muslim Psychology Students Association (known as KMP) in UGM Psychology. The organizer is the Kemuslimahan (Muslimah Affairs) Department of KMP. It’s a talk show centered on Muslimah issues. This year is the fourth year it’s held, on October 28, 2018. Each year, there’s a different theme. For this year, it’s ‘Inspiring Muslimah: Wise Mother, Great Learner, Bright Future’. This year’s theme has a purpose of inspiring muslimahs and asking them to know more about marriage, family, and children. Muslimah Beauty has a goal to be a place for muslimahs to seek and renew knowledge about muslimah issues that are going on, and also issues appropriate to the needs of society.

Alaidama Noutika Widodo, usually called Aima, is the Head Organizer for Muslimah Beauty 4, explains that the preparation of this event has been done since May. The marriage phenomenon is taken as a basis for the theme, as it is an issue much talked about recently. College students also need to know about marriage life and also about ways to raise children. “This talk show is important for female college students and young mothers, so that they can now good child-rearing methods, and therefore can make a stronger future generation. Family is the smallest unit of society, so if a family is strong, then it will also contribute, albeit indirectly, to the strength of our nation,” explained Aima about the background for choosing this topic.

In this event, other than the talk show, there were also nasyid from UNASCO, distribution of doorprize, and a photo session. Taking place in Auditorium G-100 of UGM Psychology, there were 90 participants. The open gate was at 8 a.m. and it officially started at 08.30 a.m., lasting until 11.30 a.m. The guest for the talk show was Septi Peni Wulandani, and the talk show was moderated by Nur Shofaa Inarah. Septi Peni Wulandani is the founder of jaritmatika and sekolah lebah, who has won many awards. She won the 2009 Inspiring Women Award and the 2010 Duit Magazine Supermom. Septi Peni Wulandani also founded Ibu Profesional Institute (Professional Mom Institute), which focuses on giving guidance to mothers in educating their children.

Other than holding Muslimah Beauty, KMP’s Kemuslimahan Department also routinely conducts discussions centering on muslimah issues. They’re usually held every 2 weeks during Friday prayer. Aima hopes that with events such as Muslimah Beauty and discussions mentioned above, it can get muslimahs to always learn and improve themselves.
