Welfare becomes an important thing along with the complexity of human life in this era of globalization. Some countries use welfare as a measure of social progress and fulfillment of public policy. The study conducted on adolescents shows that various physical, physiological and psychological changes are experienced by teenagers. “The study conducted on adolescents showed that efforts to improve the welfare of teens may reduce aggression, depression or anxiety,” said Wiwien Dinar Pratisti at her doctoral exam at the Faculty of Psychology UGM, Tuesday (19/7).
In Indonesia, the government through Law No. 4 in 1979 shows attention to the importance of well-being for children. The law includes a disclaimer that the definition of a child is a person who has not attained the age of 21 years old and unmarried. Thus, it can be stated that a person aged 15-18 years old can still be categorized as a child, although the development has entered mid-adolescence. “The research subjects are adolescents aged 15-18 years old, who live in a nuclear family in Sukoharjo and become members of youth clubs,” she added.
The results of the research entitled “Model of Youth Subjective Welfare” shows that the welfare of young women is higher than young men. These results indicate that young women are able to manage their emotions in a more mature way so they can think more like adults than young men. These results strenghten previous studies that stated that aggression is dominated by young men than young women, because young men are less able to manage their emotions in a positive way. “It is suggested that the relevant parties need to seek a way to create a more prosperous condition for adolescents,” Wiwien said.
