CICP Collaborates on COVID-19 International Research

CICP (Center for Indigenous and Cultural Psychology) under Faculty of Psychology Gadjah Mada University doing collaborative research about COVID-19. This research is a collaborative research with 10 universities from various countries, which are Gadjah Mada University, Universitá Giustino Fortunato, Universitá in Salerno, Federal University of Bahia, University of Tallin, University of Sydney, University of Aix-Marseille, Sigmund Ferud Privat University, University of Luxembourg, and East China Normal University.

The research called “The Social Perception of Covid-19 Risk and Diffusion” which is an exploratory survey research. “We conduct the research online, with 1000 participants as a target,” said Happy Virginia, CICP research assistant.

The research that led by Dr. Wenty Marina Minza, M.A. aim to explore about social perception and appraisal towards the risk of COVID-19 deployment in Indonesia.

Researcher from various discipline such as psychology, sociology and anthropology found a substantial fears in human during emergency health condition, so they initiate this research. Those fears include: fear of the uncertainty about the future, powerless feeling to face potential danger, and inability to understand the current situation.

Wenty said those fears induce to certain behavior that are a form of psychological expression which involving affective-cognitive function, as if efforts to get certainty about the future.
