Celebrating the Peak of UGM’s Faculty of Psychology’s 52nd Dies Natalis

UGM’s Faculty of Psychology celebrated its 52nd Dies Natalis this year, since its establishment on January 8, 1965. The Faculty of Psychology has held a string of academic and non-academic events to celebrate this anniversary, among them are a financial seminar, a sharing session led by the new doctors, and fun competitions, such as table tennis, bakiak racing, and karaoke.

The theme for this year’s Dies Natalis celebration is “Melompat Maju Bersama Psikologi (Leaping Forward with Psychology)”, which means not only physically but also cognitively and affectively. “The Faculty of Psychology is trying to work and create with new, concrete ideas in planning the future,” said Head of the Dies Natalis Committee, Dr.rer.pol. Bhina Patria, M.A., during the peak event of Dies Natalis, Monday (1/9) in the faculty’s auditorium. The theme works alongside UGM’s motto, which is “Locally Rooted, Globally Respected”, in which UGM’s vision is always to contribute in putting Indonesia’s name out in the world without leaving integrity and social interest.

According to the Dean of UGM’s Faculty of Psychology, Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A., the Faculty of Psychology, that has now reached its 52nd year is already mature, and that it is expected to keep on working and innovating to solve problems and develop our nation. Faturochman also addressed the yearlong plan for UGM’s Faculty of Psychology in 2017 in the dean’s report during the open senate meeting. In the area of academic and student affairs, the faculty will enrich the knowledge and understanding of students by having interdisciplinary courses, hone soft skills with the College Life program, and adding more time for classes from alumni, professionals, and psychology practitioners.

In the field of research, community service, and collaboration, the Faculty of Psychology will strengthen the mapping of existing research and develop partnership and relations in Indonesia and also abroad, especially psychological services. Also, the Faculty of Psychology will improve human resources on campus based on the principal of needs analysis. Hopefully, the Faculty of Psychology that has been supported by lecturers, students, staff members, alumni, Potmapsi (Parents’ Asssociation), Dharma Wanita (Women’s Union), and other parties can move forward and be better than before in 2017.
