Academic Orientation for Students of Master of Professional Psychology Batch XVII-2020

In order to welcoming lectures that will begin for the postgraduate level on September 14, Master of Professional Psychology Program Faculty of Psychology UGM held Academic Orientation for New Students of Master of Professional Psychology Program Batch XVII-2020 for two weeks which start on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 to Friday, September 11, 2020.

However, regarding to pandemic conditions, the orientation was held online through the Zoom Meeting and attended by 100 new students from the Master of Professional Psychology Program with a specialization in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (29 students), Clinical Psychology (38 students) and Educational Psychology (33 students).

The opening was held Tuesday, September 1, 2020, starting with speech from the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UGM, Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A.

During the two weeks program, students were provided with materials about Faculties, professional attitudes of Indonesian psychologists, academics, as well as material about living and learning skills in order to become successful learners during the study period.

Living skills topic was delivered on the second day of the event by Dr. Arum Febriani, S.Psi., M.A. In her presentation, she stated “It is important to have a strong mentality in pursuing and completing the Professional Psychology Masters.” During the session, she convey about abilities that students need in order to complete the education in a Professional Masters, they are time management and mental toughness. Since the key of becoming success learner is not only about intelligence, but it is also important to be able to manage emotions and get back up when facing both academic and non-academic challenges.

Beside learning and living skills material, students also provided with classes about writing skills, discussions session about their respective specializations and sharing session with alumni. Through this series of events, it is hoped that new students can have provisions for lectures.
