Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) deserves to be proud of one more student’s achievement. Nathalie Margaretha, from our faculty, won second place in Sragen’s search for its next Sukowati Tourism Ambassador. The title she was bestowed upon on the inauguration night was as a runner up (Juara II Duta Wista Sukowati) and also Juara Atribut Putri Intelegensia (Intelligence Award). Sragen Regency’s Youth, Sports, and Tourism Services held this event on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in Sragen’s Alun-alun Sasono Langen Putro.
20 finalists (10 male and 10 female) got through to the finale after passing previous stages. They are representatives of schools or districts in Sragen.
Before the grand finale, 10 pairs of finalists have to go through various activities in the quarantine period for 10 days, from July 18 – 28, 2018. They had to train in hospitality and table manners in Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel, visit PT. Sritex Sukoharjo, train in guiding tourists in Sangiran Museum, art and aptitude appreciation, participate in an outbound activity in Betisrejo Tourist Village, attend a seminar in Sragen’s PDAM, study Javanese and English in the language training, attend a Beauty Class,
selama 10 hari, dari tanggal 18-28 Juli 2018, 10 pasang Finalis Duta Wisata Sukowati Kabupaten Sragen tersebut harus mengikuti berbagai rangkaian kegiatan selama karantina. Rangkaian kegiatan tersebut meliputi pelatihan hospitality dan table manner di Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel, visitasi ke PT., pelatihan guiding di Museum Sangiran, apresiasi bakat dan seni, outbond di Desa Wisata Betisrejo, seminar di PDAM Kabupaten Sragen, dan pelatihan Bahasa Jawa, Bahasa Inggris, Beauty Class, received the Ngadi Salira Ngadi Busono treatment, and learn about Public Speaking & Personal Behaviour from experts.
In the grand finale, finalists showed their abilities in answering the three judges’ questions, with each question measuring a particular aspect. Those aspects ranged from personality, general knowledge, life view, tourism development, to knowledge about global issues happening currently.
Out of the 20 finalists, 6 people were chosen as the winners, in categories of 1st Place Winner, 2nd Place Winner, 3rd Place Winner, Juara Atribut Intellegensia (Intelligence Award), Persahabatan (Congeniality Award), and Water Ambassador for PDAM Kabupaten Sragen. Nathalie will later on represent Sragen regency in another event similar to this for the provincial level (Center Java).
