OPSI UGM Explores the Complexities of Human Morality in the Age of Social Media

Human beings are not born as a “blank slate.” From the beginning of life, people already possess a basic moral framework that continues to develop through environmental influences, culture, experience, and learning.

This topic was explored in the latest episode of Obrolan Psikologi (OPSI), a psychology talk show jointly produced by the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and TVRI Yogyakarta, on Tuesday (21 July). Hosted by Sekarayu Puspita, the tenth episode featured UGM Faculty of Psychology lecturer Samudera Fadlilla Jamaluddin, S.Psi., M.Sc., who discussed the psychological processes underlying human morality.

The Faculty of Psychology UGM Strengthens Professional Psychology Students’ Assessment Competencies through AJT Training

The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), provided students of the Professional Psychology Education Study Program with training and certification as AJT Cognitive Test administrators from Monday (20 July) to Friday (31 July). Held in Room A-203, the F3 Building, and the Psychodiagnostics Lab, the program was attended by 41 students.

UGM Psychology Researchers Find Hypnosis May Enhance Employees’ Sense of Meaning at Work

Yogyakarta, August 3, 2026 – A research team from the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has found that hypnosis based on guided imagery has the potential to enhance employees' sense of meaningful work among those with low levels of work engagement. The findings were published in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis following a pilot study employing a randomized controlled trial (RCT) design.

2026 Partner Satisfaction Survey: Nurturing the “Roots” That Cultivate Trust

A representative of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Psychology Center (PusPsi TNI) shared a meaningful analogy when describing its partnership with the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM): if PusPsi TNI is the fruit of a tree, then the Faculty of Psychology is its roots. To produce the best fruit, the roots must first be well nurtured. This analogy aptly reflects the findings of the 2026 Partner Satisfaction Survey, which reveal that the Faculty's partners are not only satisfied with its services but also trust the institution and aspire to continue growing together.

UGM Waste Management Task Force Assists Faculty of Psychology in Implementing IoT-Based Waste Scales

The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a training session on the use of Internet of Things (IoT)-based waste scales on Tuesday (July 28) in Room B-112, Faculty of Psychology UGM. The activity was part of the Sustainability Campus Action (SCA) program and the UGM Waste Management Task Force’s initiative to standardize waste generation measurement across all faculties and work units within the university. The Faculty of Psychology has been using the IoT-based waste scale since May 12, 2026, making this session part of the Task Force’s ongoing technical assistance. read more

Prof. Dra. Kwartarini Wahyu Yuniarti, M.Med.Sc., M.B.A., Ph.D., Psikolog

Prof. Dra. Kwartarini Wahyu Yuniarti, M.Med.Sc., M.B.A., Ph.D., Psikolog, is a prominent Indonesian academic and psychologist. Indigenous Psychology: It Is Time to Determine the Mainstream of Knowledge from Our Homeland was the title of her inaugural professorial address in 2013. Kwartarini earned her Ph.D. from Universität Hamburg, Germany. She obtained her M.Med.Sc. from the University of Newcastle, Australia; her M.B.A. from the Master of Management Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM); and her Dra. degree from the Faculty of Psychology, UGM.

Prof. Dr. Sofia Retnowati, MS., Psikolog

Prof. Dr. Sofia Retnowati, MS., Psychologist, an expert in the field of Clinical Psychology with a long academic and professional track record. On September 12, 2011, Prof. Sofi officially received the title of professor with an inaugural speech titled “Community Health Center Psychologists: Needs and Challenges for the Clinical Psychology Profession in Indonesia.” Previously, she completed his undergraduate education at the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in 1978 and obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the same faculty in 1991. Her dedication and love for this field returned her to UGM to obtain a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2005.

Prof. Drs. Subandi, M.A., Ph.D., Psikolog

Prof. Drs. Subandi, M.A., Ph.D., Psychologist is a prominent academic at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada. (UGM). He has a strong educational background, holding a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Adelaide, Australia, which he obtained in 2006 with a dissertation titled “Cultural Dimensions of Recovery from Psychotic Illness in Java.” Previously, he completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). In 2015, his professorial inauguration was titled “Mental Health in the Perspective of Culture and Religion.”

Adelia Khrisna Putri, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D.

Adelia Khrisna Putri is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, where her work centres on mental health, bereavement, and suicide prevention and postvention. She received her PhD from The University of Melbourne, where her dissertation, “Exploring Self-Healing in Suicide Bereavement: Lived Experiences and Postvention Resource Development in the Indonesian Context”, examined the lived experiences of Indonesians bereaved by suicide. That work led to the development of Healing After Loss, the first resource booklet for Indonesian suicide loss survivors co-designed with suicide loss survivors, mental health professionals, and faith leaders. She previously completed an MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences at University College London, and her undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Working through community-based participatory approaches, she translates the lived experience of survivors into resources that Indonesian communities can use directly. She is active in the Center for Public Mental Health and the Center for Indigenous and Cultural Psychology, and her teaching is grounded in clinical and social psychology.

Faculty of Psychology UGM Equips Administrative Staff to Become Safe Adults and First Aiders

The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) equipped its administrative staff with the knowledge and skills to serve as Safe Adults and First Aiders for colleagues and students in need of initial psychological support. Organized through a collaboration between the Faculty’s Health Promoting University (HPU) program and the Center for Public Mental Health (CPMH), the training was held in Room D-402, Faculty of Psychology UGM, on Friday (July 24).
