Last Monday (7/3) was the faculty members’ first day back to work after the 1438 H Eid al-Fitr joint holiday. Same as the years before, the Faculty of Psychology held a get-together event that is by tradition held after the celebrations, known in Indonesia as Syawalan. The faculty held a Syawalan to tighten the bonds and strengthen the friendship of all the faculty members. The Syawalan was held on the Hall of Building D, and was attended by invitees, such as lecturers and academic staff that have completed their services to the faculty, parents’ association (POTMAPSI), alumni association (KAPSIGAMA), women’s association (Dharma Wanita), and stakeholders.
The Syawalan opened with a performance of Javanese gending from a Karawitan group, Nglaras Ati, and the readings of the Holy Qoran and Saritilawah. Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A. gave the greetings, saying his hopes for the whole faculty to bond and become a tight-knit family. “Hopefully, after fasting and forgiving each other this Ramadhan, we are now ready to work again and improve each of ourselves to get better achievements and greater work performance. We should all support each other, alumni and former faculty members, by maintaining silaturahmi and communicating well with each other.”
Suyanto, S.Ag., M.Si gave a talk later on, saying that Syawalan is a tradition of Yogyakarta, so people from other religion shouldn’t hesitate in joining in, and that fasting in the month of Syawal for 6 days will give a person big pahala. After that, there was the ceremonial release from duty of Drs. Haryanto Fadholan Rosyid, M.A. and Sugiman. There was also the release of the late Zawawi, who passed away on February 23, 2017. The Syawalan ended with praying together, drawing the lottery for the door prize, and lastly, shaking hands. [Alifah]
