The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and the Gadjah Mada Psychology Alumni Association (KAPSIGAMA) Class of 1986 collaborated with Martha Tilaar Group to organize Beautypreneurship with Martha Tilaar & Psychology ’86 Discovery Fair on Thursday (August 27). The event was part of the Glow Economy: Beautypreneurs Take the Lead roadshow and marked four decades of togetherness among UGM Psychology alumni from the Class of 1986.
Prabaswari Dewi, S.Psi., Psychologist, Chair of KAPSIGAMA Class of 1986, opened the event and emphasized the importance of maintaining friendships after graduation. According to her, lasting relationships can develop into supportive networks that strengthen their members.
The morning session featured Martha Tilaar Group CEO Dr. Kilala Tilaar as the keynote speaker. During his presentation, Kilala introduced the history of Martha Tilaar Group and encouraged participants to view entrepreneurship as an opportunity open to everyone.
“Today, I would like to challenge all of you—alumni, lecturers, and students—to recognize that becoming an entrepreneur is everyone’s right,” Kilala said.
He explained that the beauty industry offers various opportunities that can be developed through creativity, innovation, and an understanding of consumer needs.

Echoing this perspective, Dr. Moko Pamungkas, a senior executive, business leader, and alumnus of the UGM Faculty of Psychology, explained that market changes have expanded opportunities for people to establish businesses.
“Everyone has the potential to become a business owner because the market has changed,” Moko said.
In the afternoon, the Psychology ’86 Discovery Fair brought students together with senior alumni from various professional fields. Through this session, participants gained insights into a wide range of career paths, including mental health and clinical psychology, human resources, leadership, supply chain, the energy sector, government, creative industries, entrepreneurship, research, and academia.

The event provided students with an opportunity to recognize their potential, expand their networks, and explore the diverse career paths available to psychology graduates. It also highlighted the role of alumni in sharing their experiences and supporting the next generation as they prepare for the future.
