Workshop on Manuscript Conversion Strategies: Opening Opportunities for Scientific Book Publication at the Faculty of Psychology UGM

The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada, through its Publication Unit, recently held a capacity-building event titled “Workshop on Manuscript Conversion Strategies for Book Publication” on Friday, July 25, 2025. Conducted online via Zoom Meeting, the workshop was attended by lecturers, researchers, and postgraduate students actively engaged in academic writing within the Faculty of Psychology UGM.

The workshop featured Abdur Rahim, S.S., M.Pd., Head of Cooperation, Manuscript Acquisition, and Senior Editor at Intrans Publishing, as the main speaker and was hosted and moderated by Syahrul Fauzi, S.Pt., M.Pd. This activity was designed as part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to disseminate scientific knowledge, aiming to ensure that academic papers and research manuscripts do not remain merely as academic documents, but are further developed into scientific books accessible to a broader academic and professional audience.

OPSI: Psychological Talks Episode 7 – Beyond Nature, Beyond Network: Building Mental Resilience

The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with TVRI Yogyakarta, presented the sixth episode of the program OPSI: Obrolan Psikologi (Psychological Talks), which aired on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM (WIB). This episode carried the theme "Beyond Nature, Beyond Network: Building Mental Resilience," highlighting the connection between nature-based activities and psychological endurance.

The theme was chosen in response to the rising pressures of modern life, which is fast-paced, highly competitive, and filled with demands. Amid the relentless digital world, reconnecting with nature offers a way to calm the mind and restore inner strength. Outdoor activities not only provide peace but also help sharpen one’s ability to face challenges with patience, calmness, and mindfulness.

CPMH UGM Holds Workshop on Clinical Interviewing and Diagnostic Tree for Mental Health Professionals

The Center for Public Mental Health (CPMH) of the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a Workshop on Clinical Interviewing and Diagnostic Tree over two days, July 10–11, 2025. The hybrid-format workshop was held both via Zoom and at the UGM Center for Environmental Studies building, and was attended by psychology professional program students, lecturers, psychologists, medical doctors, and psychiatrists.

The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of mental health professionals in clinical interviewing and accurate diagnosis of mental disorders. The Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UGM, Rahmat Hidayat, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of paying close attention to psychological issues and the need for professionals to carefully consider diagnoses in order to design effective interventions.

UGM Psychology and TVRI Yogyakarta Partner to Strengthen Mental Health Literacy

The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TVRI Yogyakarta on Thursday (July 10) at Room A-203, Faculty of Psychology UGM. The signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was conducted by the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UGM, Rahmat Hidayat, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Head of TVRI Yogyakarta Station, Budi Kurniawan, S.Sos.

This partnership marks a strategic collaboration between academia and public media to deliver educational broadcasting programs that are timely, relevant, and impactful for the lives of the Indonesian public.

"We are very grateful for and appreciate the opportunity given by TVRI Yogyakarta. At the Faculty of Psychology, we carry the responsibility not only to advance the discipline but also to transfer knowledge, skills, techniques, and methods developed in psychology to the wider community," said Dean Rahmat Hidayat.

UGM Faculty of Psychology Receives Research Grant on Transcendental Meditation from Maharishi Global Raam Raj Foundation

The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through Prof. Dra. Kwartarini Wahyu Yuniarti, M.Med.Sc., Ph.D., Psikolog, has received a research grant from the Maharishi Global Raam Raj Foundation (YMGGR) to conduct a collaborative study on Transcendental Meditation (TM). This partnership was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between both parties on June 23, 2025.

The research aims to examine the benefits and cultural compatibility of Transcendental Meditation within Indonesian school settings, with Yogyakarta as the initial research site. The project will also explore the potential of TM to support character development, well-being, and personal growth among young students.

This episode addresses a highly relevant theme in the digital era, titled "Social Media: Friend or Pressure?"

UPPKM Faculty of Psychology UGM Welcomes Two Research Assistants from University College London and Leiden University

In an effort to expand scientific networks and international collaborations, the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has developed various schemes for researchers wishing to join through the Research and Community Service Unit (UPPKM). This program aims to support the implementation of research and the production of scientific knowledge through UPPKM activities. Additionally, the scheme seeks to enhance students’ research capabilities, create a research ecosystem involving trained research resources, and encourage the publication of research results at both national and international levels.

Faculty of Psychology UGM Supports SDGs through KNB Scholarship Selection for Developing Countries

Yogyakarta – Faculty of Psychology Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Unit Pengembangan Kualitas Manusia (UPKM), held a psychological interview session for prospective recipients of the Developing Country Partnership Scholarship (KNB) on June 3–4, 2025. This activity is part of the scholarship selection process provided by the Indonesian Government to citizens of developing countries from various countries in Asia, the Pacific, Africa, South America, and Eastern Europe.

Faculty of Psychology UGM Lecturer Receives Australian Alumni Grant 2025 for Inclusive Learning Development

The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, has once again received positive news from the international grant arena. Elga Andriana, S.Psi., M.Ed., Ph.D one of the faculty members, has been selected as a recipient of the Australian Alumni Grant 2025. This grant is a prestigious recognition awarded to Australian alumni who are considered to have significant potential to contribute to the development of education, collaboration, and community empowerment.
