Tuesday (29/12) Professional Psychologist Alumni Association UGM held online sharing session involving alumni from Educational Professional Psychology study period 3. The theme for the discussion called From Theory to Practice.
Attended by 35 students and alumni from Professional Psychology Program, the event opened with brief explanation of the schedule. As for this session, the sharing method was using a method called pecha kucha, where the speakers will have limited amount of time and presentation slides in order to deliver their material so the message will be compact.
The event divided into two session. There will be 4 material on each session followed by question and answer session after the two session.
The first session started with material about Resilience In The Midst of Pandemic by Lisnawati, M. Psi., Psikolog. According to her, it is important to enhancing our resilience, in particular during the pandemic. By developing good resilience, it will make we as an individual to be ready to face the challenges ahead.
Furthermore, the second material was delivered by Amanda Murtiningtyas, M. Psi., Psikolog. She share about oral therapy for austistic children and how to do it. This therapy is important in order to stimulate the muscles around mouth area, which commonly become the problem in children with speech delay.
Next material about Challenges in Homeschooling for Special Needs Children delivered by A’yun Haifani, M. Psi., Psikolog followed by Counseling for Teenagers by Sukma Praitasari, M. Psi., Psikolog.
The second session begin with the topic about Prematurity and Learning Barriers by Desi Maulia, M. Psi., Psikolog. She present the brief explanation about prematurity and the correlation with learning barriers, attention and socio-emotional development.
Next material delivered by Dr. Rozi Sastra Purna, M. Psi., Psikolog about Emotion Regulation Among Educators, followed with third topic about Telecounseling by Edilburga W. Saptandari, M. Psi., Ph.D., Psikolog. Furthermore, she highlighted the the positive side of telecounseling and how it can become one of alternative to do counseling during the pandemic or in the future. So it is important to keep developing our competence and stick to the ethics in doing the online practice.
The end of the session was closed with sharing by Laela Siddiqah, M. Psi., Psikolog about The Journey of Psychologist. She share her perspective and experience when took master of professional psychologist until now.
After two sessions of material, the event closed with question & answer session that guided by the moderator.
This event is expected to become the medium connect and share for practitioners candidate, the students of Master of Professional Psychology and the alumni as well as bring the new perspective to broader community.
