For three days starting from Thursday (18/2) to Saturday (21/2) IUP Psychology UGM held the first batch of intake. This event is an admission path for new students for international class programs or the International Undergraduate Program.
The pandemic atmosphere did not reduce the enthusiasm of the participants to take part in the IUP intake. The number of participants in the first batch of IUP was 133 people. There was no significant decrease from last year’s IUP intake participants, who were more or less the same.
The intake participants took three stages of the screening test, each of which was carried out in one day. In the first stage, Thursday, participants took the AcEPT English proficiency test. Then followed by the GMNT academic potential test on the second day. From the two-day selection, 80 prospective students passed. The 80 prospective students took the final test on Saturday, namely selection through essay tests and interviews.
“The results will be announced on February 26 after the finalization meeting with the deans and other leaders. The number who passed is still in the discussion stage,” Yemima Febriani explained, academic staff for thesis, graduation, graduation affairs and the International Academic Exposure Program.
The condition of the Covid 19 pandemic that has not subsided requires all academic activities to comply with Health protocols. The entire series of events is carried out online. All participants take the entire series of tests online from their respective homes. In general, all participants can participate in the event smoothly. However, there was one participant who experienced problems with power and internet interruptions due to collapsing electric poles in the area of his house.
“I’m concerned because it was on the last test day. We’ve tried calling to see if the participants are allowed to take the test. However, unfortunately until the end of the essay collection, the participants were still unable to connect,” said Yemima.
This IUP intake is the first batch of student admissions tests. For students who have not passed or have not had the opportunity to register in the first batch, there is still a chance for the second and third batch IUP intake.
“The first batch is held in February, the second wave is usually in May and the third wave is in July. For an uncertain date because we participated in the announcement from the DPP,” Yemima explained.
In implementing this online IUP intake, of course, has its own challenges, so it requires special preparation so that participants can take a series of tests from beginning to end smoothly.
