Center for Indigenous and Cultural Psychology (CICP) again held workshops. This workshop was “Workshop on Visual Psychological Anthropology: Indonesia 2019”. Robert Lemelson, Ph.D., a native of the University of California, Los Angeles was invited as a speaker. Housed in building A-203 and held on Friday, September 6, 2019. The Workshop was attended by various circles ranging from academics to practitioners. The event opened with a speech from Director of CICP, Dr. Wenty Marina Minza, M. A, followed by a speech from the Robert Lemelson Foundation, represented by Ninik Supartini, M.Si, after which the workshop session was held.
In the Workshop, Robert explained the research activities from the start of the methodology, introduction of research subjects, research activities, various styles that can be used, tools that can support research, ways of obtaining research funds, gradual activity to record research, interview process, and some important things done before, at the moment, and after research.
Research using the viewpoint of anthropological theory, diverse methodologies can be performed not only interviews but can also be done with experiments, archiving, B Roll, and action. The research itself can touch some levels in society such as individuals, families, and social groups. In addition, Robert explains other elements in the study, such as the subject of research gained by getting people, building trust with the subject, and then from there will appear expectations to contribute to the research, and the last is to forge collaboration.
Do not stop until there, during the day screening is held. A short Film titled “Tajen” which explores the culture of Bali. This film is a sensory ethnographic film, as a documentary form. After a film screening session, interactive discussion sessions took place with the opening of Q and A from the audience.
