The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TVRI Yogyakarta on Thursday (July 10) at Room A-203, Faculty of Psychology UGM. The signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was conducted by the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UGM, Rahmat Hidayat, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Head of TVRI Yogyakarta Station, Budi Kurniawan, S.Sos.

This partnership marks a strategic collaboration between academia and public media to deliver educational broadcasting programs that are timely, relevant, and impactful for the lives of the Indonesian public.

“We are very grateful for and appreciate the opportunity given by TVRI Yogyakarta. At the Faculty of Psychology, we carry the responsibility not only to advance the discipline but also to transfer knowledge, skills, techniques, and methods developed in psychology to the wider community,” said Dean Rahmat Hidayat.

He further stated that this collaboration is also part of an active effort to bring psychological research and insights closer to the public.

“Through this collaboration, we can simulate and communicate what we know and learn. Hopefully, this will bring widespread benefit to society,” he explained.

Budi Kurniawan, Head of TVRI Yogyakarta, welcomed the collaboration warmly and expressed his commitment to supporting campus-based educational broadcasts.

“We are open to collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology UGM, just as we are with other UGM faculties and institutions in Yogyakarta. Please feel free to use TVRI as a medium to share knowledge. We hope the presence of the Psychology Faculty will add a fresh perspective to our programming,” he said.

He emphasized the need for fresh and innovative ideas that meet the evolving needs of society, particularly in the development of relevant media content.

“The themes raised should be able to draw public attention and become their own attraction. We hope these programs can be developed sustainably,” he added.

To date, seven educational talk shows have been successfully broadcast biweekly and will continue through the end of the year. The talk show, titled “Obrolan Psikologi (OPSI)”, features speakers ranging from lecturers, alumni, to postgraduate students of the Faculty of Psychology UGM.
