Prof. Dra. Kwartarini Wahyu Yuniarti, M.Med.Sc., Ph.D., Psychologist is a prominent academic and psychologist in Indonesia. “Indigenous Psychology: It’s Time to Establish the Mainstream of Science from Our Homeland” is the inaugural speech for her professorship in 2013. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Hamburg, Germany, which complements her strong educational background in psychology. She obtained her M.Med.Sc. degree from the University of Newcastle Australia and her Dra degree from the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada.

As a professor in the field of Clinical Psychology, Prof. Kwartarini has specialized expertise and research interests focused on three main areas: transpersonal and clinical hypnosis, health psychology, and indigenous psychology. Professor Kwartarini’s contributions to the research world are very significant, with several multidisciplinary research projects involving various institutions in Indonesia. Her research includes clinical hypnosis in psychotherapy for individuals with chronic illnesses, indepth guided imagery to reduce pathological negative emotions and enhance positive emotions in high school students, as well as the application of indepth guided imagery in industrial settings. Interestingly, these studies involve cross-disciplinary collaboration with senior researchers from the Faculty of Medicine as well as the Faculty of Physics and Nuclear Engineering. In addition, this research is also a multi-center project involving various leading universities in Indonesia, including UGM, USU Medan, Gunadarma Jakarta, UNPAD Bandung, UNDIP Semarang, UKWMS Surabaya, and UNUD Bali. With her extensive background, expertise, and contributions to research, Prof. Kwartarini plays a crucial role in the development of psychology in Indonesia, particularly in the field of clinical psychology and its applications in the local context. Through her work, she continues to promote a deeper understanding of clinical psychology and its application in Indonesian society
