Yogyakarta – Faculty of Psychology Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Unit Pengembangan Kualitas Manusia (UPKM), held a psychological interview session for prospective recipients of the Developing Country Partnership Scholarship (KNB) on June 3–4, 2025. This activity is part of the scholarship selection process provided by the Indonesian Government to citizens of developing countries from various countries in Asia, the Pacific, Africa, South America, and Eastern Europe.
A total of 39 candidates took part in the online interview session, after previously going through the administrative selection stage, and interviews from the Directorate of Partnership and Global Relations of Universitas Gadjah Mada, as well as the study program of choice. The candidates applied to various study programs in 14 faculties and 1 UGM Postgraduate School, both at the Masters and Doctoral levels, according to the interests and aspirations of each participant.
In the psychological interview session, the assessor team digs deeper into the motivation, commitment, and readiness of the scholarship candidates to ensure that each candidate is able to complete their studies well for the progress of their country. This activity not only assesses academic eligibility, but also mental readiness to undergo cross-cultural studies in Indonesia.
This scholarship program is part of the commitment of UGM and the Indonesian government to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in point 4 (Quality Education), point 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and point 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals), and is one of the real forms of Indonesia’s contribution to strengthening global cooperation networks in the field of higher education. Through this program, the Indonesian government hopes to produce graduates who are able to become agents of change and make positive contributions to the development of their home countries.
