Haidar Buldan Thontowi, S.Psi., M.A., Ph.D.

Cultural psychology, social relations, trust, happiness, and achievement.

Haidar Buldan Thontowi is an academic and researcher in the field of psychology with a strong international educational background. He completed his undergraduate education at the Faculty of Psychology, Gadjah Mada University in 2010, and then continued his master’s studies in the General Psychology Program at New York University, which he finished in 2013. His academic achievements continued with a doctorate obtained from St Andrews University, England, in 2020.

Currently, Haidar serves as an academic staff member at the Faculty of Psychology, Gadjah Mada University. His expertise focuses on educational psychology as well as social and community psychology. His research interests include cultural psychology and social relations, reflecting his global perspective in understanding human behavior within cultural and social contexts. With an international educational background and a focus on educational and social psychology, Haidar brings a unique perspective to the development of psychology in Indonesia.

Dr. Wenty Marina Minza, M.A.

Research Interests

Youth, culture, gender, identity, intergenerational relations

Dr. Wenty Marina Minza, M.A., currently serves as the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada. She completed his undergraduate education at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada. After that, she continued his studies to the Master’s level in Developmental Studies with a specialization in Population and Development at the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands. Not stopping there, Dr. Wenty then earned a Doctorate in Behavioral and Social Sciences from the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research, University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. With a strong educational background, Dr. Wenty has extensive expertise in the fields of Psychology and Cognitive Science, covering Gender Psychology, Social Psychology, and Community Psychology. Her research interests focus on Cultural Psychology, Indigenous Psychology, and Social Relations. In addition to academic activities, Dr. Wenty is also actively developing her competencies through various training programs and webinars, including the Academic Leaders Management Programme (ALMP) for Faculty/School Leaders, as well as training in book writing and statistical data analysis using Jamovi. The combination of academic expertise and managerial experience, Dr. Wenty Marina Minza makes a significant contribution to the development of psychology in Indonesia, particularly in the context of culture, gender, and society. Her role as Deputy Dean also allows her to influence the direction of education and research in psychology at the institutional level.

Acintya Ratna Priwati, S.Psi., M.A. is an academic and researcher in the field of psychology, focusing on social relations and human development. She completed his undergraduate and master’s education at the Faculty of Psychology, Gadjah Mada University, earning a Master’s degree in Psychology (Social Psychology) in 2018. Acintya’s research interests include social identity, interpersonal relationships, and cyber psychology, reflecting her fascination with the dynamics of human interaction in the digital age. As an educator, Acintya contributes to various courses such as Social Psychology, Communication Psychology, Human Development Range, and Basic Assessment. Her expertise in social relations and development throughout the lifespan serves as a strong foundation for her teaching and research at Gadjah Mada University.

Fakhirah Inayaturrobbani, S.Psi.,M.A

Research Interests

Social and cultural psychology, media psychology, information and technology, as well as technology-based social interventions.

Fakhirah Inayaturrobbani S.Psi, M.A completed her undergraduate and master’s education (Master of Arts) in Social Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology, Gadjah Mada University, focusing her research on social identity psychology in social media. She had the opportunity to work as a technology analyst in the role of User Experience Researcher under the Department of Communication and Information, West Java Provincial Government, a few years before returning to serve at the Faculty of Psychology at UGM. In addition, she engages in a lot of education on her personal social media as an effort to channel the understanding of theories of social and cultural psychology, media psychology, information and technology, as well as technology-based social interventions. Fakhirah herself has conducted extensive research on the phenomena occurring in social media using various approaches, both qualitative and experimental quantitative. Fakhirah’s long-term goal is to build a theoretical foundation and test the ideal points of social intervention in changing public perceptions based on media and technology regarding Indonesia’s cultural diversity.

Lu’luatul Chizanah, S.Psi., M.A.

Lu’luatul Chizanah has completed her undergraduate education with a Bachelor of Psychology (S.Psi.) degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). She continued her studies at the same university and earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree. In her master’s studies, Lu’luatul worked on a thesis titled “The Construct Validity of Ikhlas: An Exploratory Factor Analysis of the Ikhlas Scale Instrument,” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Noor Rochman Hadjam.

Lu’luatul’s research and publications largely focus on aspects of social, cultural, spiritual, and neuropsychological relations. She is actively engaged in community service related to dhikr meditation to address anxiety and depression in correctional facilities and mental health rehabilitation centers in Yogyakarta. In addition, Lu’luatul also enjoys being a companion for the Student Creativity Program related to spirituality and psychology, including “Islamic Techniques of Anger Coping: An Experimental Study on Strategies for Easing Outbursts of Anger,” funded by DIKTI in 2018. As a dedicated educator, Lu’luatul Chizanah teaches various subjects including Psychological Intervention, Intelligence Assessment, Social Psychology, Basic Assessment, Conflict Resolution, Communication Psychology, Disaster and Crisis Psychology, and Psychology of Religion and Spirituality.

Prof. Dr. Tina Afiatin, M.Si., Psikolog

Prof. Dr. Tina Afiatin, M.Si., a renowned expert in Psychology, has dedicated herself to the fields of education and psychological research. Prof. Tina pursued higher education at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), earning her bachelor’s degree in 1988 after researching the creative attitudes of adolescents in relation to their parents’ attitudes. She then obtained her M.Si degree in 1996 after studying the enhancement of adolescents’ self-confidence through group counseling. In 2003, she successfully defended his dissertation titled “The Influence of the ‘AJI’ Group Program on Enhancing Self-Esteem, Assertiveness, and Knowledge of Drugs for the Prevention of Substance Abuse in Adolescents.” Next, the title of Professor was awarded in 2013 with the speech titled “The Function of Mixed Methods in Family Psychology Research.”

In her career, Prof. Tina developed the fields of Social Relations and Educational Psychology. Her interests in research include Community Psychology, Substance Abuse, and Group Psychology. With extensive experience in teaching and research, she has taught various courses at UGM, including Dynamics of Psychology, Psychopathology Interventions, Personality Theory, Qualitative Research Methods, Marriage and Family Psychology, Basic Psychology, and Psychological Interview Observation Practice.

Dr. Arum Febriani, S.Psi., M.A., is a graduate of  Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) for Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, and completed his doctoral studies at Université Paris Descartes-Sorbonne Paris Cité, France, now serves as Head of the Psychology Master’s Study Program at UGM .

In her academic career, Dr. Arum has focused his studies on two main areas, namely Developmental Psychology and Social Relations. The international experience she gained while studying in France enriched her insight and scientific approach, especially in studying the dynamics of individual development throughout the life cycle and how social relations influence psychological well-being.

Pradytia Putri Pertiwi, S.Psi., Ph.D

Research Interests

Lifespan Development, disabilities and inclusion, disasters and humanitarian crises, as well as minority and marginalized groups.

Pradytia is a Lecturer in Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada. She is uniquely positioned as both an academic and a practitioner with over 15 years of experience in disability inclusion within disaster contexts. This dual perspective allows her to bridge the gap between theory and practice, providing a comprehensive understanding of how sociocultural dynamics, social norms, values, and non-normative events like disasters influence human development. Grounded in both rigorous research and practical expertise, she emphasizes the transformative power of individual empowerment to drive broader community changes. Her research focuses on disability inclusion, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and qualitative methods, with her leadership in these areas recognized by being named one of Indonesia’s women leaders in DRR in 2023. Through her work, Pradytia aims to influence policies and practices that support the holistic development of inclusive societies.

Sutarimah Ampuni, S.Psi., M.Si., MPsych., Psychologist is an academic and psychologist currently working at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada. (UGM). Ampuni’s academic journey began with earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (S.Psi) from UGM, with a thesis titled “The Influence of Illustrated Images on Understanding English Prose.” She then continued her professional psychology education at the same institution, completing her thesis titled “The Relationship Between Maternal Affective Expression and Children’s Social Competence.” Ampuni furthered her studies by obtaining a Master of Science (M.Si) degree in Psychology from UGM. Then, she broadened her international perspective by pursuing a Master of Psychology in Counseling Psychology at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. The peak of her education was achieved with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Psychology from La Trobe University, Australia.

Sutarimah Ampuni’s main area of expertise is Psychology and Cognitive Science, with a particular focus on Developmental Psychology and Aging. Her research interests focus on adolescent development, demonstrating her dedication to understanding and contributing to this critical stage of development.

As a lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology at UGM and head of the Center for Life-Span Development (CLSD) at UGM, Sutarimah Ampuni has made significant contributions to the development of psychology in Indonesia, through teaching, research, and community service
