Monday, January 8, 2018 marked the peak of Gadjah Mada University’s Faculty of Psychology’s 53rd anniversary (dies natalis). The string of events to celebrate it has been held since November 2017. The theme for this year’s dies natalis was Psikologi Bersinergi (A Synergized Psychology). This year’s celebration was a momentum to improve synergy by building productive cooperation to create meaningful work.
The first agenda of that day was a public senate meeting, held at 9 a.m. in A-203. Prof. Dr. Tina Afiatin, M.Si., who is the head of the senate reported activities the faculty has conducted in 2017. Then, Prof. Dr. Faturochman, M.A., the dean of the faculty, presented the achievements of the faculty throughout the year. Prof. Faturochman started his report by explaining the current acceptance rate to get into the faculty, which only accepts 2,5% of the 9000 applicants. For the master’s program, the faculty has regulated the study period, and there have also been improvements by developing the learning centers and renovating the library. The faculty has also mapped researches of lecturers, and has continued to emphasize research publication of lecturers.
In 2017, the faculty has partnered and done research collaboration with 8 universities out of Indonesia, and 5 local universities. Three of the faculty’s researches are top researches (unggulan), according to The Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. The faculty also handed out 23 research grants, with 3 multi-year grants. Prof. Faturochman also reported achievements in collaboration, student achievements, human resources, doctorate acceleration program, and other achievements of the faculty’s many units. Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., as the rector of Gadjah Mada University also participated in the celebration and gave a speech. The meeting ended with presentation of Prof. Dr. Asmadi Alsa, SU., and Prof. Dr. Endang Ekowarni’s legacies as professors, who are retiring this year.
After the meeting, Prof. Panut officiated the opening of the faculty’s Learning Centre in the third level of Building G, along with its website, http://learningcenter.psikologi.ugm.ac.id.
Then, the event continued with Tasyakuran, an event held to express gratitude for this year’s anniversary. It was held in G-100 at 11 a.m. Wahyu Jati Anggoro, S.Psi., M.A. as the Head of the Committee for this year’s Dies Natalis reported back all of the events held as part of the celebration. The dean gave another speech, and after that Prof (Emr) Dr. Bimo Walgito gifted 5 of his books to the faculty.
The next event was the honoring for seven lecturers who retired in 2017. They are Drs. Amrizal Rustam, S.U., Drs. Hadi Sutarmanto, M.S., Drs. Martono, Prof. Dr. Asmadi Alsa, S.U., Prof. Dr. Endang Ekowarni, Almh. Prof. Dr. Amitya Kumara, M.S., and Almh. Doktoranda Anita Lestari, S.U. Dr Avin Fadilla Helmi, M.Si., as the Vice Dean of Finance, Assets, and Human Resources represented the faculty in honoring the beloved lecturers who have worked very hard to improve the faculty and the field of psychology.
There was also an awarding for students, the students were: Zahwa Islami (Mahasiswa Berprestasi tingkat Fakultas/Most Outstanding Student in Psychology, 2017), Dita Marfuah Sufiatun (1st Winner in Sprinting, H2H, and Slalom, 2nd Winner in Down River Race), Laura Aurelia Dinda Sekar Devanti (Gold Medal for 50m and 100m Freestyle Swimming), teams that won gold in 2017’s PIMNAS, and 8 students who won gold in this year’s National Psychology Olympics. Irmarinda Sheyna Candrasafira, (2014), Hika Chrisyandani (2015), and Tori Netanya Bramintasandhini Wirja (2016) were also awarded as students with the highest GPA in their year.
Lecturers and staff were also given awards. Lecturers Idei Khurnia Swasti, M.Psi was given an award in the field of teaching, Wahyu Widhiarso, S.Psi, M.A for research, and Diana Setiyawati, S.Psi, MHSc, Ph.D for community service. Heri Susanto, S.Kom. was awarded for his achievements and work in the development of information and technology.
The Tasyakuran ended with the cutting of tumpeng, a traditional Indonesian celebratory dish made out of turmeric rice that is shaped like a cone. Pieces of the tumpeng was given to guests Prof. (Emr) Dr. Bimo Walgito, Prof. Byron Good, and Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Dr. Budi Setiadi Daryono, M.Agr.Sc. After that, the event continued with a social event where attendants can talk and relax, known as ramah tamah. In Building D, Level 1, the Faculty of Psychology gave out presents, one of them being a motorcycle, provided by Honda, one of the sponsors.
