In an effort to expand scientific networks and international collaborations, the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has developed various schemes for researchers wishing to join through the Research and Community Service Unit (UPPKM). This program aims to support the implementation of research and the production of scientific knowledge through UPPKM activities. Additionally, the scheme seeks to enhance students’ research capabilities, create a research ecosystem involving trained research resources, and encourage the publication of research results at both national and international levels.
Recently, UPPKM welcomed two students from University College London and Leiden University as research assistants for a specified period. The presence of these international students is expected to bring new perspectives and strengthen the quality of research within the faculty.
Fega Ayu Pangestika from University College London joined the Research Internship Program at the Center for Indigenous and Cultural Psychology starting June 1, 2025, for a duration of three months. Meanwhile, Akmal Naseery from Leiden University will be part of the Research Internship Program at the Center of Public Mental Health starting May 5, 2025, for two months.
As research assistants, Fega and Akmal will actively participate in various research activities aligned with the collaboration between the Faculty of Psychology UGM and partner universities. Their responsibilities include conducting research under the guidance of lead researchers, participating in knowledge dissemination through workshops, seminars, and conferences, as well as publishing research findings in reputable scientific journals.
The presence of these international research assistants is expected to provide significant benefits to the Faculty of Psychology UGM, such as bringing fresh perspectives, strengthening international networks, improving research quality, and enhancing the faculty’s visibility and reputation on the global stage.
With this foreign research assistant program, the Faculty of Psychology UGM reaffirms its commitment to becoming a leading center for psychological research and contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge globally. The program is expected to continue and provide greater benefits for the faculty, students, and the wider community.
