Temu Kenal Akrab 2021: Meraki

Saturday (11/13), the Faculty of Psychology UGM held a welcoming ceremony for new students from the 2021 batch through the “Temu Kenal Akrab 2021” event. This event is held for two days, from November 13 to November 14, 2021. Temu Kenal Akrab is an annual activity to welcome new students of the Faculty of Psychology. Attended by 300 participants, the welcoming event this time became a forum for students to know the social structure and initiate good relations between forces even in a pandemic condition.

At the beginning of the event, Dr. Nida Ul Hasanat, M.Si., Psychologist, Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, as a representative from the faculty gave a speech. Through her speech, Nida said that in addition to leadership, this event can also be a place to find and get to know each other. “It can also hone cooperation and coordination to exceed the study period at the Faculty of Psychology. Everyone is happy, right?”

In addition to representatives from the faculty, there were also representatives from the Psychology Student Parents Association (POTMAPSI), namely Tri Joko Semedi as General Chair. “I congratulate for you all for being a family member of the Faculty of Psychology UGM after going through a tough selection,” said Tri. In addition to congratulating him, Tri also thanked all POTMAPSI members who had participated in the 2021 intimate gathering.

The event was then continued by Nugroho as a POTMAPSI representative who provided material about prepare new students for their future lectures. The material presented includes indicators of college success, challenges in the world of work, choice of college majoring in psychology, keys to college success, and efforts to achieve success. According to Joko, the indicators of success are mastering the field of study, graduating on time, and having a short waiting period to get a job. “As parents, we always support and collaborate with faculties to provide complete and quality supplies”.

Another POTMAPSI representative who was also present was Erina Chusnulita who briefly gave ice breaking to make the event even more lively. “Let’s move with four ONs, namely vision, passion, action, and collaboration,” explained Erina. In addition, Erina gave a message to new students to take advantage of lecture time by trying all opportunities because each person has their own advantages.

Furthermore, the next material was delivered by Joko Prasetyo as POTMAPSI Management of the Education Development Section with the title “Carving Future Success”. According to Joko, success is when one person’s life is useful for others. “Success doesn’t talk about material things, it doesn’t talk about wealth, but success is a life that is useful for others and material things are a bonus for success.”

Not only the POTMAPSI Talkshow event, the 2021 Get-to-Know Meeting also scheduled the election of the head of the class, the determination of the 2021 Gods and Goddess, as well as various other agendas. Even though this is the second year that Temu Kenal Akrab is being held online, it does not dampen the enthusiasm and excitement of the new students to get to know each other and become closer between the generations.
