Friday (9/4) Faculty of Psychology Universitas Gadjah Mada held a Webinar entitled “Tips for Healthy Eating Post Vaccine”. This event is one of the socialization efforts about vaccines and how to regulate life patterns after the Covid-19 vaccine.
This event takes place from 13.00 WIB to 15.00 WIB. This event was attended by 80 people consisting of lecturers, employees, and students of the Faculty of Psychology, Gadjah Mada University.
The presenter of this event is dr. Mei Neni Sitaresmi, Sp.A.K., Ph.D. Guided by host Florentina Rusmawati, S.E., May explained the current conditions regarding the Covid 19 pandemic to the development of a vaccine that was officially used by the Government of Indonesia. May gave a lot of tips on how we should after receiving the vaccine so that the benefits of the vaccine can be maximized. In this event, May also invited all participants to become agents who actively promote the importance of taking vaccinations to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the community.
This is very important because even though the vaccination process in Indonesia has started, the pandemic trend is still rising. People who are not fully able and willing to comply with health protocols have also contributed to the increasing number of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The long holiday at the end of December 2020 is allegedly a turning point for the increase in the spread of Covid-19.
“Adherence (to health protocols) is a very difficult thing, sometimes if we don’t have our own experience (then) we don’t believe it,” said Mei.
Mei then explained what a vaccine is and how it differs from immunization. For the current condition, the most effective way to do this is vaccination. Therefore, all Indonesian citizens who meet the requirements must participate in the vaccination. In addition, the effects of vaccines last longer than immunizations.
“Actually, vaccines are not new. We have seen this for hundreds of years, and vaccines are the most effective preventive intervention compared to other forms of prevention,” explained Mei.
In the case of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indonesian government and WHO have calculated that if at least 70% of Indonesians are vaccinated, there will be herd immunity. Group immunity occurs as indirect protection from infectious diseases because a large part of the population that is already immune to viral infection becomes a protector for individuals who have not been immune to the virus or have not been vaccinated.
“So this is why vaccination is not only a right, but an obligation, because he has to protect his right and left so that it does not become a source of transmission,” explained Mei.
Furthermore, Mei also explained about the various types of vaccines used in Indonesia. One of them is the type of viral vector vaccine, which is where the virus becomes the vector or carrier. In the viral vector vaccine, the corona virus is included in a virus that is already benign and recognized by the body so that the body can form immunity.
“But currently in Indonesia, there is this one owned by Sinovac which is also in collaboration with Bio Farma and Astra Zeneca. Now, the Astra Zeneca that is included here now is the help of the WHO,” said Mei.
In a further explanation, Mei emphasized to vaccine recipients to continue to comply with health protocols. Avoid crowds, maintain cleanliness, and reduce mobility. Furthermore, Mei also gave practical tips on how to optimize vaccine reactions. Some of them are maintaining physical fitness, physical activity, and getting enough sleep.
The event was very interactive. Participants in the event took advantage of the question and answer session to understand more about vaccines and how to live a healthy lifestyle afterward
At the end of the event the committee also announced the results of the assessment of the psychology student poster competition. The first winner was won by group 15 with the poster title “Healthy, Fit, and Productive Strategies During the Pandemic Period”. The committee also gave GoPay balance prizes to the best questioners and some lucky participants.
