Friday (23/10) Unit of Learning Technology Development (UPTB) Faculty of Psychology UGM organized the first NVIVIO Training Series. According to the pandemic situation nowadays, this annual event that usually held by UPTB was organized online trough Zoom Meeting.
In this session, Ridwan Saptoto, S.Psi., Psi., M.A., one of the lecturers at the UGM Faculty of Psychology had the opportunity to become a speaker.
During the presentation session, he delivered a brief introduction to qualitative data analysis methods. In qualitative method, the sample size is different from the quantitative paradigm. The important key in qualitative method is the depth of the data.
In addition, Ridwan also mention about the type of data coding such as theoretical coding, axial coding, and selective coding. Apart from being processed manually, another alternative for processing in qualitative research is using NVIVO software. NVIVO can be used as an alternative because it can analyze varied data like text, images, audio and video.
In this first session, the speaker explained about the basic concepts of qualitative research and the introduction of NVIVO. Furthermore, the practice of using data will be carried out at the second session that will be held on next Friday, October 30, 2020.
The event that attended by 20 participants was closed with discussion session, guided by the moderator.
