Working Meaningfulness in Post Covid, The Fifth Seminar Series by UPKM

Human Resource Quality Improvement Institute (UPKM) Faculty of Psychology Gadjah Mada University held the fifth Post COVID Quality of Work Life Seminar Series online, on Saturday, September 12, 2020 trough Zoom Meeting and also broadcasted live from UPKM Psikologi UGM Youtube channel. It was attended by 95 participants from varied background, which are private and public institutions, UGM students and partners.

The event began opening speech from Taufik Rahmat, secretary of UPKM and continued with presentation session from the speaker.

Dr. Bagus Riyono, M.A. A psychologist, the lecturer at Faculty of Psychology UGM and also President of International Association of Muslim Psychologists, had the opportunity to become the speaker with the topic titled Working Meaningfulness in Post Covid.

In his presentation, Dr. Bagus Riyono, M.A. Psychologists delivered the importance of meaning, which act as the ultimate goal for the things we do, both in terms of work and other fundamental meaningful things. According to him, there are five aspects that play a role and interact with each other in order to achieve meaning, those are urge, challenge, freedom, incentive and meaning which are the ultimate goal itself. Besides, he also conveyed five spectrums of meaning, sense of purpose, sense of contribution, competence, enjoyment, fulfillment, values.

Behavior that appears after Covid or New Normal can lead someone to be trapped in euphoria. “Therefore, it is important to contemplate the true meaning, so we won’t get stuck in the false meaning.” said Dr. Bagus Riyono, M.A. Psychologist. By reflecting on the experiences during the pandemic, it is expected that we will have better understanding abut the purpose of life and be able to provide wider benefits for others.

After the material, the session was continued with question and answer session guided by the moderator.
