Tuesday (16/07) the Center for Public Mental Health (CPMH) Faculty of Psychology UGM held a seminar with the theme of International Convention on Family Strengthening, taking the location in the building A-203 Faculty of Psychology UGM, the event took place smoothly. The event was attended by approximately 50 people who come from various circles such as practitioners, professionals, academics, NGO activists, and even to housewives. The event itself began the national Conference of Postgraduate events held one day later.
In this event, Professor John De Frain was present as a speaker, he was an expert in the field of family development and community. John is already in the field of family resilience. He is also a practitioner at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln for about 30 years and is the founder CEO of Network. The research involved relates to the family, the crisis in the family, and the strength of the family. His writings in the family have no doubt, around more than a hundred publications and dozens of papers he has made in relation to these things.
The event opened with a welcome from various representatives. Diana Setiyawati, M. HSc. Psy., Ph.D. As the chairman of the Center for Public Mental Health (CPMH) was shown to give a speech starting the event. On this occasion, he conveyed matters relating to the improvement of the quality of the family in Indonesia. Followed by a speech from the Deputy assistant in education, health, and family development from women empowerment and child protection of the Republic of Indonesia (KEMENPPA).
The Seminar took place from morning until evening. In the first session, the event began with material exposure from John De Frain. The material exposure took place very communicative because John invites the participants in the material that is packaged in an epic form so as to impress the relaxed atmosphere. While in the second session, participants were asked to understand an inventory test with the theme of Creating a Strong Family, American Family Strengths Inventory A Teaching Tool for Generating Discussion on the Qualities that Make a Family Strong. Participants were shown some aspects of the inventory test, and the speaker asked participants to discuss the results of the study.
