The 10th Gebyar Brawijaya Qur’ani Nasional (GBQN X) 2024 was held at Samantha Krida Hall, Universitas Brawijaya. This year’s theme was “Grounding the Heart in Upholding Eternal Civilization of the Quran.” The event aimed to strengthen Quranic values among students and university youth through nine competition categories focused on religious and Islamic artistic skills.
GBQN X attracted 1,465 participants from 16 provinces across Indonesia. The competition series included registration, administrative selection, submission of written papers (for the Musabaqah Karya Tulis Ilmiah Al-Qur’an or MKTIA), announcement of finalists (for MKTIA), competition rounds, and the final announcement of winners. Universitas Gadjah Mada sent nine delegates to compete in the categories of Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ), Musabaqah Tartilil Qur’an (MTrQ), Musabaqah Karya Tulis Ilmiah Al-Qur’an (MKTIA), and Musabaqah Khattil Qur’an (MKQ) – Decorative Category.
Prior to departure, the UGM delegation prepared both technically and systematically for their performances, which took place from October 24–27, 2024. Each participant trained independently to ensure their best performance. The UGM representatives were selected through the 2024 UGM MTQ League, so the team did not require much additional preparation time for this national event.
The GBQN X competition reached its peak on Sunday evening (Oct 27), when the UGM contingent won three awards in two competition categories: MKQ Decorative and MKTIA. The achievements included:
-
1st Place in Musabaqah Khattil Qur’an (Decorative Category): Gayuh Ardian Fajri (Vocational School)
-
2nd Place in Musabaqah Karya Tulis Ilmiah Al-Qur’an and Best Paper Award:
-
Umar Abdul Aziz Susilo Rahmat Wibowo (Faculty of Psychology)
-
Aqila Dea Nisrina (Faculty of Psychology)
-
Atikah Tasnim (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences)
-
Gayuh, who also serves as Chair of the UGM MTQ Community, expressed that these achievements were exceptional and aligned with expectations. “The UGM delegation earned three awards across four competition categories. This success will surely motivate UGM’s team to continue excelling and actively participating in Islamic spiritual competitions at both national and international levels,” he said.
He also emphasized that this event serves as an important benchmark for UGM’s performance in the upcoming main event in Islamic spiritual competitions: the 2025 National Student MTQ. He hopes that UGM will achieve even greater success in the coming years.
